After a massively successful debut, Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy is officially it's largest new launch of a solo franchise since it began in 2008, and for a movie with hardly any recognizable characters outside of the comic world and being the 10th movie of the studios, that is a very big deal. While a lot happened in this movie, it also had a major impact on the Marvel universe itself and if you're confused, take a look a this fun at all the Easter eggs but, I warn you in advance, this video might spoil some things as well. Take a peak!

The 80's pop filled, eccentrically cast, newest super hero film from Marvel Entertainment signifies the bigest side step and risk since it began its three phase film plan back in 2008, but is Guardians of the Galaxy worth the galactic ride? Lets take a look. (mild spoilers below)
Comic-Con, the magical time of year that's basically the nerd Olympics. The ultimate round up of comic and cosplay goodness to get us hyped for whats ahead but lets be honest, this year felt a little sub par but I have an idea or two as to why but before we get to that, lets take a look at what we missed.
The next installment in the post apocalyptic sci-fi series Mad Max is coming to theathers in 2015 and just debuted a fantastic, explosion and action packed trailer at comic con. Check it out and look forward to see Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and plenty of others as the embark on this long desert chase. Check out the new trailer below! Sin City 2 is just a little under a month from it's release and it looks like we might be heading for a 3rd film. Frank Miller, revealed yesterday during Comic Con that they're already talking about the direction they might be able to take the film if Sin City: A Dame to Kill For ends up being successful. The graphic novel turned movie took just under a decade to release from it's 2005 star packed Sin City debut. Lets hope we do see more of this amazing crime noir series.
Comic con has brought us many surprises and one of them is defintely actress Gal Gadot as wonder woman in the up coming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. One, of the many new heroes added to the sequel, looks quite different from the normal Wonder woman we've come to see over the years. Her head piece appears to be facing down, not up, they also went with a much darker costume over all, ditching the more vibrant red and blue look. While a lot of people criticized Gadot being cast as Wonder Woman, director Zack Snyder has always had a knack for putting together an odd cast and bringing the best out of them. We'll have to wait and see and hopefully we'll see some footage from Batman v Superman soon.
I wanted to wait until all of the concept art photos were released before I made a post about them and Marvel has just shown off the last two for the upcoming 2015 title Avengers: Age of Ultron. Take a close look as some show off new coming characters quick silver, scarlet witch, vision and lots and lots of Ultron robots, teasing a lot of action and mayhem! Click below to see the rest!
Naughty Dog's successful action-adventure title the Uncharted series, has finally announced a release date in a slot where we expected another big franchise to fall. Instead of the Amazing Spider Man 3 releasing June 10th, 2016, we'll instead be seeing Uncharted: Drakes fortunes based on the popular franchise. This isn't the only Spiderman related news as the spin off film, the Sinister Six, will fall in November 2016, moving The Amazing Spider Man 3 to 2018. While a lead hasn't been chosen yet the rumor has been circulating that Transformers 4 star Mark Whalberg might take on the wise cracking adventurer. I'm sure there's more to come to keep an eye and ear on this years comic con.
This year saw the release of quite a few films and another film that you might have missed is the korean sci-fi action epic Snowpiercer, based on the French graphic novel, Le Transperceneige. While this movie received a little difficulty with it's release state-side due to some of its content, you can still find it in some theaters as well as online and this is going to easily be one of 2014's best releases and for a title with receiving the acclaim it has, it's one you should definitely see.
While Scarlett Johanson saw the release of the massive hit, Captain America: Winter Soldier, a small and lesser known film was released on the same day (April 4th) in the US, one you should not miss. The psycho-sexual science fiction film, Under The Skin, stares a polarizing and daunting Johanson in a far less warm role than we're use to and it offers an incredible mix of sexy and down right terrifying. As to avoid ruining the twist of the film, Under The Skin plays more on the hunter v. prey relationship as a young woman searches across a town in Scotland looking for loners to lure them back to her place and when you find out what happens to them, it will turn your stomach. More importantly, this film is beautifully shot, rending scenes reminiscent of art house films decades before it. The absence of color, the lack of emotion, the impeding sense of danger brought on by the music playing behind each scene, all of these and more add to a world that you're immediately drawn in on and sit gripping at your neck as you actually fear what's going to happen next. For those of you who are fans of alterna-style horror flicks, this is a viewing experience that's both gratifying and haunting. Under The Skin is available now on Blue Ray and DVD. |
