Just when I thought I caught my breathe from the whirlwind announcement made by Marvel Yesterday, an event held today has literally changed everything we thought we had coming! One of today's biggest announcements was the confirmation of Black Panther not only getting it's official release date, but being played by "Get On Up'" (the James Brown biopic) Chadwick Boseman. The news, of course, didn't stop there, as Marvel went on to announce and confirm a long list of titles up through 2019. Not picture is Captain America: Serpent Society (now retitled) which will be released on May 6th, 2016. The biggest change to the roster is Avengers" Infinty War Part 1 and 2, which now officially shows us when we expect to see the big show off with the war god Thanos and the infinity gauntlet. (Pictured above from Superhero report) This also leaves us with the question of who will make up the Avengers afterwards? Heading Towards Avengers 3 and 4. Are we going to see the same actors or will new comers like Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Vision and Quicksilver make up the new team? Only time will tell but enjoy the brand new logos and get excited for a lot of trips to the movies over the next few years!
Deadline broke the news that the newest actor reportedly added to the Marvel Entertainment Universe roster is none other than Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch as the sorcerer, Doctor Strange. After rumors circulating from Johnny Depp, to Tom Hardy, to Jared Leto, even Jaoquin Pheonix, this was a bit of a surprise but certainly a welcome one. Benedict Cumberbatch is a serious actor who's poise has earned him critical acclaim in the BBC series Sherlock, as well as staring in last summers major blockbuster film Star Trek: Into Darkness (picture above on the right), portraying Smaug in the second Hobbit film and the final Hobbit film this December, and even this years Oscar bait, The Imitation Game about war hero Alan Turing. Marvel has spoke about Doctor Strange being it's first step towards the "supernatural side," of the universe, adding that it's going to be "very, very important" to their future plans. Let's hope this plays out! The Doctor Strange film is slated for release of July 8th, 2014.
The Age of Ultron trailer has leaked a day after it's release and the internet is collectively losing it's mind! There's a lot to talk about here in this explosive trailer and now there's no doubt in my mind that the "Civil War," arc is what's next for out favorite heroes. The trailer begins with a voice over from Ultron, large crowd immersed in chaos, a tied up Bruce Banner and from there it only gets darker. We get a much better look at the buster suit this time around and even the beginning of the division between the team as Thor grabs Tony Stark by the throat amongst other heated moments. One of the biggest shockers is what happens to Captain merica's shield. Who or what could break a shield that's basically indestructible? What's gone wrong with the Hulk and why is he fighting with Tony and why does Thor go after him as well? Avengers 2 looks heavy on the action and heavy on the drama, take a look at the trailer here while you still can before it's official debut next Tuesday during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released May 1st, 2015. Save the date, it looks like we finally know when we'll be seeing some new Avengers news. In what's easily the most exciting thing to happen related to this movies in weeks, it turns out the first official trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron will premiere October 28th during ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Make sure you don't miss next weeks episode at 9pm Eastern time. (Although, if you miss it, it will most definitely be all over the internet shortly afterwards) Get excited guys!
In what can only be described as a whirlwind 24 hours for one indie game developer, we've witnessed the latest case of being held accountable for your words. Mike Maulbeck, one of the designers behind the title Paranautical Activity, (picture above) found himself in a whole heap of trouble yesterday after a mislabeling on their newly released title via Steam frustrated him to the point where he sent, and I quote, "I am going to kill gabe newell [sic]. He is going to die." This was just the tail end of a series of vicious and lewd tweets. As such, Steam quickly removed the title and was confirmed by one of Valves employee's to gaming publication site, Polygon, stating "Yes, we have removed the game's sales page and ceased relations with the developer after he threatened to kill one of our employees." As if things couldn't get worse, the now former Code Avarice employee has resigned at the company, listing a blog post on the official website as well as admitting that he often uses twitter to "vent," and "has been a consistent problem" since he became involved in gaming. While it was commendable that he stepped away from the company, selling his shares well, in order for the company to continue without a bad reputation behind it, this is another indication what what you say online, whether it's meant literally or not, will effect you. Death Threats are no joke and have been tied to numerous cases of people fearing for their lives, especially as of late. While his former partner deems the situation as "ludicrous," and feels that the entire thing is an over reaction, the result still stands as it is. Whether Steam will allow Paranautical Activity back on it's game market or if they'll ever work with Avarice Games again is yet to be seen but we can be sure about one thing, the moment you represent an I.P. or company and say anything threatening, racist, homophobic or sexist, there will always be consequences.
Sadly, not all games make it to the shelves and this is one that never got to see the home of many gaming consoles, the cancelled Wii game, Star Wars Rogue Squadron: Rogue Leaders. The game originally featured elements of previous Rogue Squadron titles, Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike, to bring it's own blend and unique experience to the Nintendo Wii. Both of the previous titles were Gamecube exclusives. You can take a look at the some of the game play below and listen to a podcast with IGN and the former head of Factor 5, the studio that developed these titles, Julian Eggebrecth, here. This week has probably been the most important week for the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the announcement of the first Avengers film and it's all because of one character who started everything back in 2008, Tony Stark a.k.a. Robert Downey Jr. While it was originally rumored that Downey Jr. would be featured for a small role in Captain America 3 to set up future events, he's now been officially cast, leading a lot of us to speculate that Marvel's next step is towards the Civil War story arc. Not only is the Civil War story arc a massive crossover event, featuring some X-men and out friendly neighborhood Spiderman, it also causes a divide between our Avengers, stemming from the disagreement on how people with "special powers" should operate. In short, Tony Stark supports and becomes the face of the "Superhero Registration Act," thus holding Superheroes accountable for their actions as well as being monitored but after the betrayal by the former senior leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., Alexander Pierce (Played by Robert Redford in Captain America: Winter Soldier), Rogers is feeling a little apprehensive about being under surveillance and from there stems the divide. This, along side news that the Russo brothers, who will be directing Captain America 3, may also direct Avengers 3 and 4. They're also a lot of questions as to who will return, seeing as Evans, Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth's (Thor) contracts all expire at Avengers 3. Will we see some potential casualties of some our favorites? Or perhaps one of the many coming characters like Ant Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Wasp, and plenty others. When will see the Avengers fight the war god Thanos? We've known that he will be a central villain to the series for a long time now but will he appear in Avengers 3, 4, maybe both? Only time will tell but get excited, it looks like Marvel's ready to kick things up a notch.
