Netflix is taking us back to camp, again. After the immensely funny Wet Hot American Summer: First Day At Camp prequel series to the original 201 cult classic, Netflix has now greenlit a sequel series titled Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later. While no casting information has been released, Netflix's series reunited the original cast featuring such recognizable faces as Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Jeneane Garofalo, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, Elizabeth Banks, Ken Marino and plenty of others! One can only hope that everyone will be coming back for this series when it hits Netflix sometimes next year!
Nintendo's annual fiscal earning press conference happened early in the morning and we learned quite a bit about the state of the gaming giant. While profit's were down 61% from the previous year, they were only .5 shy of the fiscal years expectations bringing in around ¥16.5 billion, not quite making their ¥17 billion expectation and ¥41.8billion from the previous year. Nintendo did however succeed immensely on the digital front, raking in ¥44 billion, an ¥13 billion increase from the previous year. Some of the titles that moved move units the previous year, like Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby didn't perform as well but other big titles like Splatoon, Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, Fire Emblem Fates and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: HD, performed well considering the latter two just made the March 31st cut. Amiibo cards and figures sold a whopping 53.60 units combined.
Nintendo also revealed that two of their upcoming 5 scheduled smartphone games will be based around immensely popular franchises. Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem will be getting their own smartphone games due out later this fall! Both of which are immensely popular in the west and sound not only user friendly, but the perfect titles to create for smart phones. Finally, the Nintendo NX is not coming in 2016. Contrary to the many E3 and Holiday season, Nintendo has stated they have no plans to release the console until March 2017 and will hold off of the launch of the newest Zelda title for the consoles release as well. This is, not entirely surprising news but it would hardly make sense for Nintendo to launch a new console having ended their previous console with one of their flagship games. So for now, it looks like Star Fox Zero is the last "big," release aside from Dragon Quest X. The only big 3DS titles to be released this year will most likely be Pokemon Sun & Moon as well but, from Nintendo's earning, it's clear we're going to see a strong focus in Amiibo's, smartphone apps, and amiibo figures and cards until the launch of the NX, next March. It's near the end of the month and you know what that means! Xbox Live has revealed their upcoming free titles for May for both sets of consoles and they look fun as ever. For Xbox One, Defense Grid 2 will be available the entire month and the side scrolling adventure game, Costume Quest 2 will be available from the 15th through the 31st of may. For the Xbox 360, Grid 2 will be available for the first half of the month followed the classic Peggle. For trailers, you can watch them below! Make sure to get your hands on these free titles while you can.
(Defense Grid 2, Costume Quest 2, Grid 2 and Peggle.) With just about a month ahead of it's release, Fox has given us the Final action packed trailer for X Men: Apocalypse. Showing off some awesome fight scenes and a few surprising mutant cameos, X Men: Apocalypse is looking fantastic! Check out the trailer below and see the first official image of one of the surprise mutants below! X Men: Apocalypse will hit theaters May 27th. We're just a few weeks shy of blockbuster season for the film industry and this weekend's big release is the sequel to 2012's Snow White and The Huntsmen but is the movie icy hot or just a cold mess? The Huntsman: Winter's War, is a mix of prequel and sequel, that serves as both background and an extension of the original movie featuring a new villainous queen. The beginning shows how the Huntsman came to be, surrounded by other stolen children in a camp to become an army to serve a grieving queen after the loss of her own child. After about 20 minutes, a plot twist (that feels extremely cheap but actually ended up being smart) nearly undoes any interesting portion of the beginning, making you wonder why they even wasted time showing the "prequel portion," even though it's explained again later in the film. A handful of characters return from the previous film like Nick Frost as a dwarf, serving as the comedic relief and Sam Claflin for an extremely brief cameo. Again, Charlize Theron's Ravenna is the best part of this film, by a long shot. Both in plot and delivery, the scene stealing queen is the only menacing one in this film. Not even the strange, horned gorilla-trolls were as crazy as led to believe. There's a series of strange, head scratching moments like some involving a bridge and some extremely underused side characters, but there's enough plot twist to actually surprise you if you can sit through this film. It scenery is again gorgeous and the costumes out do the first film which picked up a nomination for Best Costume Design at the Academy Awards. All in all, it improves on the first film (despite it's many flaws) and seeing as it has no competition this weekend, it might be worth checking out just to enjoy the aesthetics.
It looks like one Marvel comic might not be getting the big screen treatment after all. In a surprising move, the planned Inhumans film has been removed from it's previous release date. The film, originally slated to debut following Avengers Infinity War's Part 2, was meant to be the last film of Marvel's phase 3. While Kevin Feige reassured fans that the Inhuman's debut would still happen, it's currently undated due to the planned release of Indiana Jones 5 around the same date. This isn't terribly shocking with the new addition of Spider-Man: Homecoming being added in as well. For now, we'll just have to wait and see when and if these heroes will make their own debuts.
After his big showdown with Captain America in next month's Civil War, we now know where Iron Man's heading next. We already know from the trailer that Iron Man bring Spider Man to the latest Marvel film but it turns out Robery Downey Jr will be lending his talents to the upcoming Spider-man reboot, Spider-man Homecoming. This isn't too surprising considering Downey was just talking about his newest co-star and Aunt May actress, Melissa Tomei. Honestly, I hope Robert Downey Jr's run as Iron Man goes for as long as humanely possible, he did being the current universe after all. Spider-man Homecoming is due out July 7th, 2017.
