Out of the many Disney releases slated or 2018, one that's flying just under the radar has finally given us a first glimpse at our suited up heroes. Antman and the Wasp, Marvel's July blockbuster, will see both Scott and Hope side by side this time in their respective costumes. The first film directed by Peyton Reed in 2015 served as both an origin story for both characters, with the last appearance of Antman in Captain America: Civil War and since we've known for a long time that both characters were going to appear in the Inifity War, it will be interesting to see who they're up against. The first film was also one of the funniest Marvel has done thus far and I have no doubt in my mind the sequel will be packed with just as many actions and laughs. You can read here to learn a bit more about the film and get excited for it's release July 6th, 2018.

Let's break this down. Deadpool 2 has now been moved up from it's release date of June 1st to May 18th, which generally wouldn't be a bad thing if the R-rated comic film wasn't between Avengers 4 May 3rd release and Disney's Han Solo, scheduled to be released May 25th. While comic book films are known for having massive box office drops in their second week, this many big blockbuster films is bound to step on each others feet. On the other hand, the budget for Deadpool's sequel was said to not be "astronomically larger" than the first, meaning that even with their box office run cut at the ankles, they will probably still turn a nice profit. With all of this comes the news now that the Han Solo movie's release date could change, which might be ok considering we are due for our first teaser trailer (allegedly) this coming Monday. As for Channing Tatum's long time plagued Gambit solo film, not only has it lost it's director in Gore Verbinski but it was also pushed back to 2019. (Note: Verbinski is the third director to leave the film following both Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt). The teen horror film New Mutants has moved from April to February 22nd of 2019, which is insane considering the film appeared to be done and would likely move into promotion phase soon. The other flip side is that Deadpool's release before Memorial Day weekend will likely result in a pretty nice box office run even if only for a few weeks before the release of other summer blockbusters like the Jurassic World sequel.

Great news for Hulu fans! Two of the streaming giants better original shows that debuted last year have been officially renewed for their second season. Marvel's teen mystery, Runaway's as well as the fantastically hilarious Future Man, are both getting a season 2 and I can vouch for both series as being loads of fun. Marvel's Runaway follows a group of teens as they try to discover the mystery their parents are hiding from them and the secret organization they are running, Pride. Future Man follows lead actor Josh Hutcherson as Josh who beats the final level of a video game whose characters suddenly appear in front of him and tell him that he is the true savior. The series are both really fun and Future Man was one of the best shows I watched in 2017. Get excited and binge these series if you get a chance! |
