This week has probably been the most important week for the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the announcement of the first Avengers film and it's all because of one character who started everything back in 2008, Tony Stark a.k.a. Robert Downey Jr. While it was originally rumored that Downey Jr. would be featured for a small role in Captain America 3 to set up future events, he's now been officially cast, leading a lot of us to speculate that Marvel's next step is towards the Civil War story arc. Not only is the Civil War story arc a massive crossover event, featuring some X-men and out friendly neighborhood Spiderman, it also causes a divide between our Avengers, stemming from the disagreement on how people with "special powers" should operate. In short, Tony Stark supports and becomes the face of the "Superhero Registration Act," thus holding Superheroes accountable for their actions as well as being monitored but after the betrayal by the former senior leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., Alexander Pierce (Played by Robert Redford in Captain America: Winter Soldier), Rogers is feeling a little apprehensive about being under surveillance and from there stems the divide. This, along side news that the Russo brothers, who will be directing Captain America 3, may also direct Avengers 3 and 4. They're also a lot of questions as to who will return, seeing as Evans, Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth's (Thor) contracts all expire at Avengers 3. Will we see some potential casualties of some our favorites? Or perhaps one of the many coming characters like Ant Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Wasp, and plenty others. When will see the Avengers fight the war god Thanos? We've known that he will be a central villain to the series for a long time now but will he appear in Avengers 3, 4, maybe both? Only time will tell but get excited, it looks like Marvel's ready to kick things up a notch.
