While comic con was great and there was some amazing moments, we did miss out on a lot but seeing as the next big comic book movie year is 2016, I'm not entirely shocked, until then, keep your eyes and ears opened!
Comic-Con, the magical time of year that's basically the nerd Olympics. The ultimate round up of comic and cosplay goodness to get us hyped for whats ahead but lets be honest, this year felt a little sub par but I have an idea or two as to why but before we get to that, lets take a look at what we missed. Marvel did impress as per usual with reassembling the cast of the Avengers: Age of Ultron and creating over all havoc in Hall H at Comic Con this year but sadly, we heard very little about the up coming projects. As it was just previously confirmed, Marvel has planned 7 additional movies through 2019 with Marvel studios president, Kevin Feige describing the pattern as a new franchise and a sequel to an existing property. We also know that 2015 is a big year since Guardians of the Galaxy, releasing tomorrow and Avengers: Age of Ultron releasing May 1st, 2015, are the last two films of Marvels "Phase two," thus closing out this chapter of the cinematic universe and "Phase 3," will start with Ant-Man next July. So we can definetely expect more on those titles in the next year and at next years comic con, especially with new rumors of Doctor Strange and Ms Marvel circulating. (note: Robert Downey Jr. is absolutely amazing and I am envious of everyone in attendance to see that spectacle over the weekend) ![]() Another big surprise this year was the appearance of the partial cast of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, unfortunately for Zack Snyder and DC, this was the perfect opportunity to one up Marvel by appearing with the entire cast to rival the avengers assemble panel, but of course there's always next year. While we did get a look at Wonder Woman's costume, (which im sure isn't final) we haven't seen Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, or any of the other actors cast like Ray Fisher as Cyborg or Jason Momoa who was cast as Aquaman. Of course this movies release date isn't until May 6th, 2016, so there is plenty of time but hopefully next years comic con panel will be packed with more information about the anticipated Man of Steel sequel. Writer and Producer of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Simon Kinberg, has been steadily working on the next Fantastic 4 film and after swirls of casting controversy, it was disappointing to find out that no footage had been shown over the weekend of the up coming 2015 title, which means we're probably not going to see a lot before next May but lets hope we get a good Fantastic 4 film this time. Since Kinberg is coming off of the success of DOFP, I'm kind of excited to see what he's going to put together with his talent and his eclectic cast of actors. The man himself, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, did make an appearance to promote the under performing Hercules but left out what we were all hoping we'd hear, some confirmation about who he might be playing. After a few weeks of dropping hints, we were basically left with still wondering what he might do for DC and when we'll hear about it but there is plenty of time for that to come. (My guess is still Shazam but only time will tell, he could just as easily end up being a villain.)
