Marvel has given us some details about the upcoming Captain Marvel film and now we have an idea of what Marvel is planning on doing with Carol Danvers. Surprisingly, the movie is going to take place in the early 90's, before any of the events of the Marvel Universe which originally began in 2008 with the first Iron Man film. Nick Fury will also return with both of his eyes, and the evil shapeshifting race, the Skrull, will be the central villains of the film. The details are very scarce but you can see some of the images above and below from todays presentation.

It's no secret that the Fantastic Four universe has not done well on the big screen. From the original two films that found the Silver Surfer sequel with a cancelled reboot, it wasn't until 2015 that we saw the team return again to critically panned film that ended up leaving the future in uncertain waters. Initially, it was announced that Fox was determined to move ahead with the planned franchise until a number of the cast members stated they had no interest in returning, including Toby Kebbel, who played Doctor Doom in 2015's film. In fact, just two days ago, Marvel studios president Kevin Feige spoke about Fantastic Four and how there are no current plans to integrate the iconic comic team into the Marvel Universe at this time. Fortunately for fans of the series, Fox is giving it another go with Noah Hawley, fronrunner of FX's Fargo and Legion, with a film centered around Doctor Doom. Unfortunately, this is another instance where the villain would be better served under the Marvel house. From a comic standpoint, he does some truly horrendous things within the universe, including taking Thor's Mjolnir and wielding the Inifnity Gauntlet. While the news is brand new, we will have to wait awhile to see how this films going to pan out and if it's going to be centered around the mad doctor or will we just end up with another Doom v Fantastic Four but told from the angle of the villain?
Avengers: Infinity War is under a year away and it's making quite the storm at this weekends D23 expo, during which we got our first look at the Black Order, also known as Thanos' children (note: the title is symbolic). It looks like the four will serve as some major villains in the upcoming 2018 film and their statues were on display for fans to see them in the gruesome and menacing detail. From left to right, we have Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, and Black Dwarf, with Thanos standing in the middle. These deadly foes are ready to bring some major destruction to the Marvel Universe, which is teasing the biggest action we've ever seen with an impressively large cast of heroes too. You can take a look at the new poster for the film, showing a menacing Thanos with the infinity gauntlet, complete with all the infinity stones. Get pumped for the movie when it hits theaters May 4th, 2018.
The highly anticipated Spider-Man Homecoming film is finally debuting in theaters this weekend but how did Marvel and Sony's surprising joint venture pan out. To be frank, no one was overly enthusiastic of the 6th Spiderman film, with the 3rd recast lead actor since 2002, but Marvel has Spidey right where he needs to be. Spider-Man Homecoming is fantastically well done. Full of Easter eggs, surprising twist, and hilarious. Tom Holland as young peter adds a refreshing element to the more serious tone the superhero genre has been gravitating towards. The story line is grounded and manages to flow well without bogging our webslinger down with a series of forgettable arch nemesis. Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and the rest of the supporting cast really round out the high school experience, adding even more humor and stress in Peter's life. The inclusion of Tony Stark is done to the right amount, where all of his scenes have their importance and don't overshadow Holland's solo effort debut. Marvel also moved from the Uncle Ben story line, alluding to it but never really diving into something that all comic fans (and casual movie goes), know by now. Marvel did a fantastic job, giving the fans of Spiderman and the Marvel cinematic universe the perfect reiteration of this iconic character and I can't wait to see where he swings to next. This is a film you have to see because it's just a really fun and good time.

Marvel has given us the first look at it's 2018 film, Black Panther, and it does not disappoint. Take a look at the action packed trailer and learn a little bit more about the world of Wakanda in the teaser trailer below! The new Spider Man trailer is here and it's leaving some odd first impressions. Marvel did promise a different version of the same character we've seen 5 times in the last decade and a 1/2 and it loosk like they're going to keep thart promise. Take a look at the trailer and keep and eye out for the new "marvel-ized" Vulture. (Does anyone else just get a 'meh' vibe? Marvel's second film of 2016 gives us our latest addition to the growing Super Hero franchise, in Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and it's far from anything we've seen before. Strange, a once gifted surgeon, goes on a quest to find a way to restore full functionality to his hands that were damaged in a car wreck. Along his mystical journey, he gets mixed into an evil plot, with powers out of this world and dimension. To be frank, the comparison's to 2010's mind bending "Inception," are aesthetic a best and frankly, just not true. Doctor Strange managed to build on that 4th dimension, weirdness that we briefly experienced visually in Ant Man, but took it far beyond anything else we've seen in a comic book movie so far. The film settings, magic, ad especially the fight scenes, are a fantastic treat coupled with fast paced special effects. Accompanied with an almost hypnotizing score from composer, Michael Giacchino, Doctor Strange manages to find it's own voice among the sea of endless super hero films. Also, anyone who doubts the casting choice of Benedict Cumberbatch need only to see him in this role. He brought a level of wit and humor that offset this, grim at times, film. While Strange (like many others) fell to the super hero trope of (small spoilers ahead) having a giant, purple, floating cloud bringing the world towards the brink of death, the action, cast, and brilliant visuals are completely worth it. I not only encourage people to see this film, I believe it's best seen on the biggest screen you can find to really capture the "awe" that is Marvel's latest. This is one theater experience you don't want to miss.
