Phil Spencer has had a whirlwind of a month following the controversial UWP (Universal Windows Platform) announcement as well as the recent announcement of cross-platform play for the Xbox one but it's not as easy as it sounds. Microsoft's past restriction of online gaming has basically cornered developers into creating titles that work on both Window platforms as well as the Xbox console but haven't been open to interaction with Sony titles on the Playstation 3 or 4. The catch is getting Sony to play ball. We've seen recently that in order to drive competition, certain triple A titles have offered special DLC for titles for a specific console, for example Bungie's Destiny that's given players various items since its launch that were only available for the Playstation version. We've seen the same with certain expansions being released at different times for console and PC versions of games as well. Even if it were for small cosmetic additions, gamers would most likely be upset playing along side gamers on another console who have received various in game swag that they have yet to or might not at all. We most likely won't be seeing all titles open to cross-platform play for reasons of difficulty of mechanics as well as developer resources, but the first one we know we're getting will be Rocket League. The official announcement is currently on the games website page but it hasn't been confirmed for PS4's interaction with Xbox One players. Microsoft's upcoming exclusive, Quantum Break, will also feature a cross-platform play in that gamers will be allowed to stop the game on their consoles and pick up where they left off on the PC version of the game. They're still plenty of questions surrounding this topic that one could ask. What happens wih duplicated names? What server will host all these gamers? It looks like it's up to the hands of the developers but hopefully we will get some real console v. console action in the future!

There's no debating that Attack on Titan (also know as Shingeki No Kyojin) was the largest launch of a new manga series in popularity in quite a long time. The franchise felt like an over night hit with it's viral theme song, spin off series, multiple video games, and even two live action films but anime fans are still left scratching their heads wondering where season 2 is. Creator Hajime Isayama and anime director Tetsuro Araki have announced that the anime will most likely not be arriving in 2016 due to the fact that it's not yet far enough ahead of the manga series. They claim that the suspense was kept alive due mostly to the fact that the manga and anime series ran together. While this isn't anything new for big manga series, it's a bit disappointing for anime fans considering the fact that the series concluded it's first season in 2013 and I wouldn't be shocked if we didn't see a second season until 2017 if not longer than that. There's always options the creators could take like creating filler arcs like popular series Naruto and Bleach have done in the past, creating original story lines just for the anime series. Seeing as that is not the intention of the creators, it looks like we'll just have to be patient but fans can read the series that is currently two story arcs from where the anime series left off back in 2013.

Multiple sources have reported that Final Fantasy 15's release date has leaked ahead of it's scheduled press event coming later this month. The decade in the making title has been giving us peeks at game play over the last few months but saved the release date for it's special Final Fantasy 15 Uncovered, which will be held in LA on March 30th, but Gematsu alleged that the highly anticipated title will hit store shelves September 30th. We'll just have to wait and see when we get the official announcement at the press event but it'll be exciting to finally have this long awaited title release for gamers all over the world.
Believe it or not, the Superman v Dark Knight fight is promising a more hardcore version when it's released on home video later in the summer. According to the MPAA and director Zack Snyder, the added "sequences of violence" is really what pushed the MPAA ratings board to give he Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Unlimited edition, its R rating. Some details have been released as to what will be different in the version including some characters that won't be included in the theatrical version as well as some nods towards the forthcoming Justice League part 1 due out in 2017. My question is, will we end up with a cameo stuffed ending for the DC film featuring The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman or will they make the Ultimate edition? (I have had a strong feeling that that might be the case or they would appear in an after credit sequence so we will see what happens when the film releases this Friday) You can read a bit more in detail about what to expect in the rated R version here but be warned, there are some spoilers included in the article.
Ahead of April's CoroCoro magazine release in Japan, a small teaser has been shown for the newest Pokemon titles Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Previously reported by Pokemon site serebii, the issue should arrive middle of next month and feature a small bit of information, what that is as of now is totally left to mystery. Could we hear about some new features? The region the new titles will be set in or possibly the first images of the starter Pokemon from gen 7! We'll just have to wait and see when CoroCoro hits the store shelves and when Pokemon Sun and Moon are released later this year.
It's no secret that the Captain America films are among the best comic book films and it really looks like Civil War is shaping up to be the best of the three. Take a look at Marvel's surprise new trailer and our first official look at Spiderman here! It's been a whirldwind week for Xbox fans with the sudden announcement of the cancellation of Fable Legends alongside the news that the studio producing the title, Lionhead, would be closed as well. Peter Molyneux's former company has been responsible for the strategy title, Black & White as well as the Fable franchise. The 4 player co-op title was originally announced back in 2013 and hadn't shown much new footage since then. On Tuesday, the news broke that current Xbox division head Phil Spencer, announced the cancellation and subsequent closing of the company as a means to focus on "new IP," for the current Xbox generation, a statement he's now clarified further. Due to the strong reaction on twitter, fans began to question the future of the Xbox, which prompted Specter to reassure fans that the console "is not going anywhere," anytime soon. Along side the sad news for the UK studio, Press Play studios, responsible for Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, has also been closed effective immediately. A sad fate for two studios but hopefully that means stronger exclusive titles coming for the Xbox platform in the future. To say goodbye, take a look at the last trailer for what could have been a great title, Fable Legends, below. HBO has let loose the red band trailer for Game of Thrones season 6 and it's teasing some dark times ahead for some of our favorite characters. Take a look at the newest trailer below. Keep your eye out for some returning characters, like Bran who was missing from last season, and get excited for the new season when it premiers on HBO on April 8th, just one month from today! J.K. Simmons, popularly known as J. Jonah Jameson from the Spiderman franchise, has now pulled a 180 joining the DC universe as an iconic Batman role. Simmons has been reportedly cast as Commissioner Gordon. Commissioner Gordon is a character from the Batman series as well as being played in the Dark Knight trilogy by Gary Oldman, the first appearance will be along side the rest of the DC cast in 2017's Justice League film. We've also heard of the possibility of a solo Batman film which would most likely include Gordon in a more pivotal role as well. The news comes just after a week from a video showing Simmons reacting to news about a petition for him to reprise the role of Jameson in the upcoming Spiderman reboot. While he's an incredible actor, it's hard to not feel a bit betrayed having him switch sides but he's not the only actor to do so. DC's Justice League will arrive in 2017.
