It's been a whirldwind week for Xbox fans with the sudden announcement of the cancellation of Fable Legends alongside the news that the studio producing the title, Lionhead, would be closed as well. Peter Molyneux's former company has been responsible for the strategy title, Black & White as well as the Fable franchise. The 4 player co-op title was originally announced back in 2013 and hadn't shown much new footage since then. On Tuesday, the news broke that current Xbox division head Phil Spencer, announced the cancellation and subsequent closing of the company as a means to focus on "new IP," for the current Xbox generation, a statement he's now clarified further. Due to the strong reaction on twitter, fans began to question the future of the Xbox, which prompted Specter to reassure fans that the console "is not going anywhere," anytime soon. Along side the sad news for the UK studio, Press Play studios, responsible for Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, has also been closed effective immediately. A sad fate for two studios but hopefully that means stronger exclusive titles coming for the Xbox platform in the future. To say goodbye, take a look at the last trailer for what could have been a great title, Fable Legends, below.
