The film that was once perfectly fine, then completely banned, and now widely released through various platforms is finally available for us to view but just how good was it? Keep in mind, the film's subject matter may (or may not have) been at the center of the large Sony Leak controversy that's near synonymous with James Franco and Seth Rogen lead comedy, The Interview, with that being said, the film didn't have anything particularly controversial in its self. It drives off of the same comedic troupes that carried other Rogen/Franco titles like Pineapple Express and This Is the End, filled with crude jokes, an on running Katy Perry gag and a handful of hilarious moments, The Interview feels very average for what's normally two very funny actors. I have a big feeling that Sony is going to pull in some money after the controversy but had the film not had that behind it, I wouldn't have been shocked if it flopped in this slow box office year. It's worth a look but it's a film that falls just short of the mark and the risen expectations from Sony first pulling it and then deciding to release it digitally a day before select theaters will screen it Christmas Day, will probably have an effect on how people perceive it. A word of advice, if you choose to view this home from the comfort of your own home, it's worth the 5 dollar rent but not the 15 dollar purchase.
