According to Variety, another famed DC hero is on his way to TV! Fox, along side Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and the upcoming Archie comics based TV series, Riverdale (due out in 2017), Greg Berlanti, have apparently reached an commitment agreement for the pilot. While this doesn't guarantee that the series will make it to a full season order, it's hard to imagine that it doesn't have a fair chance with DC's comics dominating television right now. At this time, no is attached to the main role and we're probably a little while away from seeing any of those rumors start to swirl. Are you excited for another comic book series or is it becoming too much to handle?

(Slight spoilers ahead) It's been a long crawl to the end of the summer and for the box office, it hasn't been a great one. Despite the many poor films releases since June, our last big box office pop-corn film is DC's Suicide Squad. With an early August release and without much competition, the movie's being billed as the new "Guardians of the Galaxy," in terms of it's projected weekend gross of $140 million but will the poor reviews and controversial behind the scenes stories keep fans away from the theater this weekend? Suicide Squad is DC's second big film this year, equally as expensive as Batman v Superman, (which was both a commercial and critical failure) needing to make $800 million to break even. David Ayer's Anti-Hero ensemble film managed to bring in some of Hollywoods elite's who arguably, (and possibly, purposefully) out act many of their lesser known counter parts. It's not hard to guess from the trailer that Will Smith's Dead Shot, Viola Davis' Amanda Waller and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn had most of the screen time, which benefited this film heavily, but others in the background cast fell to the same tired action movie tropes that didn't work two decades ago and certainly wouldn't now. The beginning third of the film opens with such strange editing and effects like fun statistics thrown on the screen like Captain Boomerang's fetish for Pink Unicorns is so ridiculous that it actually works but, it all disappears once we get deeper into the brooding story line. Cara Delvingne plays Enchantress, a demonic spirit who posses a female Doctor by the name of June Moone, who has become the love interest of Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flagg. While she manages to deliver two static versions of the same person, the most confusing scene is arguably one that occurs in a subway where, upon deciding that they could actually control her, Kinnaman request the evil Enchantress' help thus leading to a classic case of "well we knew that wasn't going to work out." It's hard to pick apart villains in comic book films these days because with so man interacting characters, it's rare to see one fully developed in time to get the audience behind them as well as excited for them to pull off (and of course, fail at succeeding) their diabolical plan. Fortunately for the viewers, every other character in this film is better than Delvingne's Enchantress. The back stories were, for the most part, pretty interesting and a fun break away from the dragged on fight scene towards the end against Enchantress' evil soldiers turned monsters. Deadshot's is heart felt, as is Jay Hernandez's El Diablo, while Quinn's highlights some psychological abuse at the hands of Mr. J himself. Which brings us to the second biggest problem of the film. Jared Leto has been, for months, talking only about his acting process behind becoming the Joker for Suicide Squad. Fear of living up to the incredibly high standard set by late actor, Heathe Ledger, to sending used condoms and rats to his fellow cast mates, he seemed all determined to give us a memorable version of the iconic villain, but it's memorable for all the wrong reasons. Leto's Joker becomes a manic mess without anything really dangerous or fun to do. Even in his own scene's, nothing diabolical or violent happens to establish that you're looking at a criminal with a dangerous history. It's more or so just that we should fear him because of what he's done, but it would have been nice to see him do something aside from a guttural laugh, wide eyes and shooting an automatic fire arm. It's a shame that we found out earlier today from Leto himself that quite a few scenes were left on the cutting room floor. It also doesn't help that there was apparently competing cuts of the film as well as some high pressure on director David Ayer as well. While the film failed miserably at making a believable villain of Enchantress, Davis' cold and calculated Waller really shined through, pulling the strings behind the scenes and a fun mid-credit scene lays foundation for next years Justice League. While some of the characters are fun to watch, the lack of a strong antagonist and some very poor editing choices strain this high anticipated title, leading really to a mash up of current pop hits and fun visuals that fill the first half but are virtually gone by the second. It feels as if two different directors filmed portions of this film and fitted them together. Suicide Squad is like being served a hot meal and being told you can only eat it when it's cold. Fortunately for us, DC may be able to learn from their mistakes when the sequel is released as well as a hopefully much better Joker experience in the planned solo Batman film. Until then, we'll just have to wait and see if an extended cut will be released with some alternate scenes like Batman v Superman or if we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope that Justice League can turn around DC's losing streak.
Between Earth 1, Earth 2 and the alternate story line created by Barry Allen at the end of season 2, CW's The Flash is getting a bit hard to follow. While the season ends (SPOILERS AHEAD) with Barry going back in time and saving his mother, thus changing the continuity of the Earth 1 story line, season 3's trailer shows a very different version of his relationship's with his former family and team. Whats more, some very familiar villains will be returning to the screen along side the newest speedster, Wally West. While flashpoint is said to not last too long next season, there are some planned permanent consequences from Barry's actions. The new season will debut on the CW October 4th, 2016. Not only did DC treat comic fans to a new look at Wonder Woman, we also got our first teaser trailer for 2017's Justice League. The dark trailer shows Ben Affleck's Batman assembling the heroes that he had found files on back in Batman v Superman. The Wonder Woman trailer, on the other hand, looks down right incredible. Superman, we get out first look at Chris Pine, Robin Wright and plenty of others and the movie teases some big action and awesome fight scenes. Take a look at both trailers below and get ready for Wonder Woman to release June 2nd, 2017 followed by the Justice League November 17th, 2017. Get ready to rumble. After a lot of speculation, Injustice 2 has finally been announced. The sequel to the 2013 title features some familiar DC heroes laying into each other in some seriously cool gear. Take a look and get excited as we'll see more of this title next week at E3. The Flash ended it's second season with a fantastic finale but the last 10 minutes might have been the most shocking thing to happen this season. (Full spoilers ahead) After a season long battle with Earth 2's Zoom a.k.a. Jay Garrick a.k.a. Hunter Solomon, the finale pitted to two greatest speedsters in a race after a plan to capture him goes awry. We find out that Zoom had the ability to run backwards in time and create copies of himself, thus finally explaining how he seemingly killed a version of himself in front of the Star Labs team earlier in the season, by pulling his Jay Garrick form through a time warp. In order for Barry to stop Zoom plot of using both of their powers to generate a machine powerful enough to destroy the earth, The Flash runs back in time creating multiple versions of himself to offset the polarity, thus upsetting the Speed Force which prompted the speed force ghosts to come and drag Zoom away. At the end, we see out heroes at Star Labs finally revealing who Hunter Solomon (Zoom's real name) had captive wearing an iron mask throughout the season and it was none other than Barry's father. Dr Harrison Wells, Jesse and Jay Garrick leave for Earth two while everyone else settles in the Allen household. After a touching moment between Barry and Iris expressing their feeling for one another, The Flash takes off running back through time arriving outside of his mothers house just moments before her murder at the hands of Eobard Thawne, season 1's Reverse Flash, not only saving her life but erasing the version of himself that existed in that time line. As for season 3, it's hard to know just what;s going to happen know that Barry's created an alternate time line which will no doubt have drastic changes in the future. The Flash will return for a season 3 next year.
Supergirl have been given another chance. After several weeks of waiting, the news was announced today that Supergirl would be returning for a season 2 but not on CBS, instead the series is moving to the CW. The CW' known for it's other comic hits including The Flash, Arrow, and the previous Smallville, is probably the right move for this new-comer series but the reason why has more to do with the budget of the show. The pilot was said to cost a whopping 14 million dollars for CBS just to film with each additional episode costing around 3 million dollars to produce. While 3 million an episode is half of say, HBO's monster hit Game of Throne's, with a full season order of 20 episodes and steadily declining ratings, it was hard to imagine that Supergirl was going to land safely in renewal zone by the time it's season concluded. The move to the CW is most certainly to shrink the budget for the series going forward. While early reactions have fans upset over the news, Arrow and The Flash have continued to do well on estimate budgets of 1 and 1/2 to 2 million per episode. Are you happy that Supergirl's getting it's second chance or would you rather have said goodbye to Kara and company?
Of the many surprises shown tonight at the MTV Movie Awards, one was also a new Suicide Squad trailer introduced by Will Smith, Margot Robie, Jared Leto and Cara Delvigne. The hilarious tv drama is based on the DC property of the same name, following the lord of hell as he takes a break from his domain. He befriends a detective and begins to help her solve mysteries while getting into plenty trouble of his own. DC is shuffling it's schedule in it's anticipated loss over Batman v Superman but one films suffering while the other just made a small step forward. DC's Batman v Superman is currently known for two things, a massive opening weekend but a huge box office drop following in it's second week apparently has studio heads frantic to recover in the long run. Remember, Batman v Superman needs at least 800 million to being to see a profit after it's lofty spending campaign and with films like Barbershop 3 and Hardcore Henry and other new releases around the corner, it's not like that the film will remain #1 in the next few weeks. This is apparently why DC has decided to shuffle their schedule, moving Wonder Woman's solo debut from the end of June to June 2nd 2017 and pushing Andy Serkis's directorial debut, The Jungle Book (not to be confused with Disney's The Jungle Book) back an entire year from October 2017 to October 2018. There has also been two new solo DC properties added to the mix which a lot of fans are speculating might be a solo Batman film that we've heard plenty of rumors of as well as a possible sequel to the villain-centric Suicide Squad, due out at the end of this summer. All in all, DC's going to have to up it's game plan because Batman v Superman will be a hit in a long run but it's not the home run they were hoping for.
