It's been awhile since we heard any new news about BioWare's latest Mass Effect entry, Mass Effect: Andromeda, but some lucky fans at E3 will be able to play the title at EA's event this year. EA will be hosting an event allowing gamer's to play their new titles in place of having a traditional E3 press conference. We also know that the game's release been delayed to some point during Quarter 1, 2017 which is between October and December so expect some big news coming at this years E3 when it begins, June 12th-14th.
The new Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer is finally here and it's given us some brand new footage as well as our first look at the new starter Pokemon! While we have not received names for the new legendary type Pokemon featured on the covers of the two versions, we did get names for the three starters you can choose between at the beginning. There's Rowlet, a grass-flying type Pokemon, Litten a fire type, and Popplio the water type. The graphics seemed to have improved as well as the male and female characters have been shown off. Take a look at the trailer below and get excited for this game to hit store shelves November 18th, 2016! If you weren't one of the lucky few to get their hands on the pricey Final Fantasy 15 ultimate collectors edition, there's good news. The Noctis statue, featured in the bundle, will also be released as a standalone figure through. He, along side Prompto and Ignis, will run you a cool $129.00 with Gladiolus priced at $139.00. The official Square Enix site appears to allow users to add their emails to a waiting list. Last month, it was announced that Square might work on making more ultimate collection edition bundles for gamer's due to the high demand and the fact that they sold out shortly after the press conference for the title aired.

Back in February, one nearly unknown actor completely stole the show in the latest Coen Brothers film, Hail, Ceasar and if these reports are true, he'll be taking on one of the most iconic roles in the Star Wars Universe. According to various sources after being first reported by Deadline, Alden Ehrenreich, has been cast in Disney's prequel story of the beloved Harrison Ford character, Han Solo. I spoke briefly about my support for the actor back in March and couldn't personally be more excited. Production will begin in January of next year with Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the movie is set to debut May 25th, 2018.
(Light Spoilers) The big blockbuster season is upon us and first up is Marvel's latest super hero title, Captain America: Civil War but, it's this showdown between heroes worth your buck? The latest title picks up after the events from Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, leaving our heroes divided over the collateral damage caused by the battle of Sovokia. Due to the high level of casualties, Tony Stark sides with the governments plan to protect citizens by limiting the autonomy of the Avengers and from there, the division widens. Captain America is equal parts an Iron Man film as it is a Captain Rogers film, weighing heavy motivations for both characters involved. The action is a huge step up from nearly any Marvel film preceding it with an amazing opening sequence and a super hero showdown that's worth the 2 and a half hour run time alone. You'll be pleasantly surprised to hear that aside from all of our returning heroes, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther as well as Tom Holland's Spider Man fir perfectly into what could have easily been a chaotic movie. While Panther plays a larger role, understandably, Spider Man is an absolute delight and it's hard not to jump up and down that we might get the version of Spider Man we've been waiting for. Civil War also does a good job of diving up the lengthy dialogue portions with some fast paced action. This is, after all, the same team who brought us Captain America: Winter Soldier. Daniel Brüh who plays villain, Helmut Zemo, is less conventional that most comic villains in the sense that he doesn't spend much time getting his hands dirty as he does pulling the string to divide the heroes. While that's drawn a bit of criticism, his performance is far from a let down and he carries the film all the way through. This movie has a mix of everything we love from Marvel, funny moments, sweet moments and action galore. Accompanied with a few surprises and nod's to whats coming next as well an amazing soundtrack, I can easily say that we're heading into the most exciting phase of Marvel films yet! This movie is a must see so grab a friend and get to the theater this weekend!
Unless you've been living in a galaxy far, far away, you know that today is Star Wars day. That day where fans, fanatics, wookies and studios come together to celebrate one of the biggest franchises in film history and this year has brought us some exciting news! Developer Respawn, the team that created Titanfall, announced that they have begun development on a new 3D Star Wars title with the former director of the God of War series, Stig Asmussen. A brand new line of lightsabers will be coming out that'll cost a cool $550. The replicas are said to be "dual worthy, accurate," and much closer to actual movie quality. They'll come with an array of customizable parts as well as for Star Wars fans looking to create the perfect saber! Wired has put up an amazing collection of must see videos for star wars fans as well today, perfectly capturing the mood for super fans or casual fans who want to know more about a break dancing stormtrooper or the lovable BB8. Also, in a big surprise for fans, the collaboration between JJ Abrams and Hamilton star and creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, title "Jabba Flow," was released onto itunes today. For those who don't know, the song was featured in the scene during Maz's cantina. May the 4th be with you and stay excited as we look toward more Star Wars games and Rogue One this December!
The 2012 action title is getting it's sequel this year and we finally have an official release date. Dishonored 2 will hit store shelves November 2 worldwide. The newest Bethesda title takes place 15 years after the events of the first game, featuring a new playable character, Emily Kaldwin, on a mission to reclaim the throne that was taken from her. The missions will differ slightly between Kaldwin and returning assassin, Corvo Attano who is also playable. Each will contain different abilities and the game offers several game play paths for replay-ability. Dishonored 2 is due out in November and you can see the latest trailer below and keep an eye out for more come June E3! I was lucky enough to conduct a short interview via e-mail with local video game collector and film maker, Evan Butler. He's currently running a kickstarter campaign to fund a film about an incredible story about an incredible game. Below, you can get to know a bit more about this film maker, what the movie's about, and how you can support his project.
1). Tell me a little bit about yourself and your love for video games. My name is Evan Butler. I have a Masters Degree in Forensic Science and work as a private investigator. I've been playing video games my entire life and love the investigative side of video game journalism. I don't consider myself a video game journalist, just someone who wants to find out every secret that a game holds. Sometimes, the best secrets aren't even in the game itself, but are in the story behind or about the game. Those are the secrets I'm most interested in. 2). When did you originally get into the Mother game series? In 7th grade, one of the other kids in my school gave me a CD with a bunch of ROM's and an emulator. One of the games on the disc was EarthBound, it stood out among the other games on the disc, like Killer Instinct or Shadowrun and it hit that same sort of high that you can only get from grinding out levels in RPG's since I had recently gotten over a severe Pokemon addiction. I went online and saw that a lot of the promotional material for the game were these cool clay model which really fascinated me since I was a huge Wallace and Gromit fan. From there, I just got deeper and deeper into it. 3). What do you think is keeping Nintendo from localizing Mother 3? I think a lot of the problems is in trying to release it, especially now that there is a professional quality fan translation of the game easily available online. Nintendo realizes that some of the content would not translate over well into the United States, like lots of character deaths, queer/trans characters, and an ocean section of the game where there protagonist, a little boy, gets kisses from an adult male mermaid (merman???) to breathe underwater. Nintendo realizes that they would have to butcher these parts out of the game and that the fans would riot, just look at Fire Emblem Fates. They also realize that they would have to compete with a fan translation of the game for quality, so they honestly took the smart choice and opted out of releasing it. When pressured on the subject, they even have a great excuse, they can just say, "You can just play it online for free." The fan translation of the game honestly was the last nail in the coffin. 4). What do you want non-fans of the Mother series to take away from your film? There really is two main points to this documentary. One is the story about the specific game, the other is this utterly enthralling look into a hobby that has gotten out of control with people spending five or six figures buying and selling these rare video games. It is insane and people don't even see it. I want to expose it to everyone and maybe let people take a moment to step back and say, "Woah, are these people really paying like a hundred grand on a game?" There's this sort of underground world right below the surface, and I want non-fans of the series to really get hooked on that theme. The specific Mother games are just a convenient way to expose it. 5). Where can we support you in your project? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1168741079/mother-to-earth-a-documentary-about-earthbound-beg Please back or at least tweet out the link. Honestly, just share it with someone you know is a fan of the series. I want to show everyone! |
