Nintendo's E3 site is currently showing a glowing image, teasing some new Legend of Zelda news set to come during the Tree house stream tomorrow at noon EST. We should get our first official look at game play as well as the reveal of the mysterious female character who we previously saw as an add on in Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors and went by the name of Linkle.

A rumor from a Japanese financial report has sparked speculation that Nintendo might be planning a new handheld. While the report states it's "picturing a scenario," it might not be all too shocking that Nintendo would be willing to move ahead with a new handheld. While their latest release, the New Nintendo 3DS was released only in 2014, the fact that it only has a small handful of console specific games, has deterred a lot of current DS users from upgrading. At the same time, the 3DS line, which has been running since 2004, has been insanely popular featuring a host of titles that were available on Nintendo's home consoles as well. Hopefully we'll hear more of this come next months E3 as well as the Nintendo NX but until then, take these rumors with a grain of salt.
After the reveal of the new Pokemon starters for November's Pokemon Sun and Moon, gamers figured it would be awhile before we saw anything new but it looks like its coming a lot sooner than we think. According the Pokemon's Japanese twitter account, more Pokemon Sun and Moon news will be coming early next month. June 2nd in fact! What this new news or footage has not been detailed so we're left to speculate whether we'll see more of the new continent Alola, more new Pokemon, or some of the new game play mechanics. Get excited for the November 18th release of the latest Pokemon titles and stick around for more exciting news as it comes!
There's nothing that I love more than a good deal and this one's really hard to beat! Nintendo's 2DS handheld is dropping down to an extremely low price of $79.99. The lowered 2DS will also come with Mario Kart 7 pre-loaded onto the console. This comes just after last years announcement that the handheld would be lowered to just $100 dollars. Considering Nintendo dominates this corner of the gaming market, it's completely worth it for gamer's who want a more comfortable device without the 3D. The 2DS will hit store shelves at it's discounted low price of $79 beginning May 20th.
The next segment of the DLC map packs for Fire Emblem Fates has been detailed and it revolves around the children of Norh and Hoshido. The new maps will follow and alternate story line that will not allow players to use leveled up character but instead, start fresh with the children units as they fight to survive inside the dream realms. The maps will begin distribution May 5th with the 6th and final map releasing on June 9th. Each map is $1.99 with the exception of the first map which is only 49cents, you can purchase all the maps for $7.99. Get excited for more battles and awesome items for Fire Emblem Fates soon.
Nintendo's annual fiscal earning press conference happened early in the morning and we learned quite a bit about the state of the gaming giant. While profit's were down 61% from the previous year, they were only .5 shy of the fiscal years expectations bringing in around ¥16.5 billion, not quite making their ¥17 billion expectation and ¥41.8billion from the previous year. Nintendo did however succeed immensely on the digital front, raking in ¥44 billion, an ¥13 billion increase from the previous year. Some of the titles that moved move units the previous year, like Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby didn't perform as well but other big titles like Splatoon, Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, Fire Emblem Fates and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: HD, performed well considering the latter two just made the March 31st cut. Amiibo cards and figures sold a whopping 53.60 units combined.
Nintendo also revealed that two of their upcoming 5 scheduled smartphone games will be based around immensely popular franchises. Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem will be getting their own smartphone games due out later this fall! Both of which are immensely popular in the west and sound not only user friendly, but the perfect titles to create for smart phones. Finally, the Nintendo NX is not coming in 2016. Contrary to the many E3 and Holiday season, Nintendo has stated they have no plans to release the console until March 2017 and will hold off of the launch of the newest Zelda title for the consoles release as well. This is, not entirely surprising news but it would hardly make sense for Nintendo to launch a new console having ended their previous console with one of their flagship games. So for now, it looks like Star Fox Zero is the last "big," release aside from Dragon Quest X. The only big 3DS titles to be released this year will most likely be Pokemon Sun & Moon as well but, from Nintendo's earning, it's clear we're going to see a strong focus in Amiibo's, smartphone apps, and amiibo figures and cards until the launch of the NX, next March. Ahead of it's release at the end of the month, Kirby Planet Robobot is showing off a new bundle with an exclusive amiibo! Revealed by Nintendo UK's twitter, the bundle comes with Kirby riding a giant warp star. More characters from the Kirby franchise will be usable with the game in the future like King Dedede and Meta Knight, both of whom appear alongside Kirby in Super Smash Bros! Kirby Planet Robobot is due out April 28th!
Exactly one week ago, Nintendo let loose it's first official app worldwide. The game, which had already registered over a million users in Japan, quickly jumped to 3 million world wide, becoming a huge hit. The set up is simple, create a Mii avatar and answer questions but the design is some what genius. Regardless of being a casual gamer or not, it's a fun way to interact with an app that's incredibly responsive and structured well. Adding friends initially was a bit of a hurdle. They're several options, a face to face option using a QR code, or adding friends that you already follow on social media sites Twitter and Facebook. To add a new stranger or friend, you'll have to follow or accept a friend request on those apps first beforehand. While that sounds a bit of an unnecessary step, it's somewhat nice knowing that you're interacting with people that you've already known, for the most part. As a matter of fact, Miitomo has taught me quite a few interesting facts that I wouldn't have known otherwise from people that I've been friends with for years. Aside from the interactions, there's a shop that updates daily with new clothing options for players to dress their characters up as like a hot dog or even a giant cat. I'm sure we'll see more famous Nintendo characters added as costumes as the weeks go by. There's even more incentive to get on the app daily as players are rewarded for answering and commenting on questions as well as receiving daily gifts from Nintendo. There's a fantastically fun system called the Miifoto that allows gamers to pictures of their mii and pose them however they like. (example, above) They're a series of minigames you can play as well to get your hands on certain items not sold in the shop that will be routinely phased out over time. Many gamers are wondering what Nintendo plans to do to make sure numbers don't drop but even if you're on Miitomo for 20 minutes a day, you'll probably still find yourself coming back for all the numerous offerings within this free app! Miitomo is available to download now. If you still aren't on board, take a look at their latest trailer below! Nintendo's first smartphone app was just recently released in Japan to big success but it looks like it's coming to the U.S. a lot sooner than expected. Miitomo, the conversational app experience from Nintendo, will allow users to create a Mii and interact with other friends mii's in a social space. After some general "get to know you," questions, gamer's will be allowed to purchase fun items and clothes for their characters. This marks the first of a series of app's Nintendo is planning on releasing for iOS and Android devices and should certainly be a fun way to interact with friends all over the world! You can pre-register for the app on Nintendo's website now and the app will be available to everyone March 31st!
Well, that was quick. After yesterday's reported news of Nintendo discontinuing the production of it's current gen console, the Wii U, Nintendo has issued a statement of their own. Refuting the claim with gaming site Famitsu, Nintendo shot down the claims made by Nikkei (as reported yesterday), saying that there is no current announcement regarding the halt of production or plans to do so. So, for now, it looks like we'll still have Nintendo's Wii U. As far as the Nintendo NX, it looks like all eyes are on this years E3.
