(If you haven't seen Wet Hot American Summer, you completely should, especially for all of the cameos of actors who were hardly known then, one who's starring in another Marvel film this summer! Click here!)
David Wain is one of my favorite comedic directors and writers, having written for Mad TV, Stranger with Candy, the Paul Rudd lead film, Role Models and the cult classic, 2001's Wet Hot American Summer, it's no arguing that he's hilarious, funny enough in fact that he might be the most hilarious writer that's been mentioned in the bunch as Marvel still searches for a new director for Ant Man. The only real issue here is that it seems to be that he's really only being thrown in the hat because of his experience with Rudd, which is great, but Marvel, do yourselves a favor and just toss this film. Let Ant-Man make his way in as a minor character in Avengers 3. The comedic route with Super Hero films hasn't always worked out and I don't think any one else's version of this film will compare to what could have been for Edgar Wright. Still, if David Wain does get the job, I hope we get a ridiculous and over the top film that's in tow with what he's known for because If you're going to choose a comedy director you might as well make the movie funny as possible.
