Andrew Garfield's days as our friendly neighborhood Spider man may be coming to a close. In the on going Sony hacked leaked e-mails scandal, we've learned a lot about the future of our web-slinging hero that I'm willing to wager the general public wasn't suppose to know. Aside from Sony questioning whether they might move forward with Andrew Garfield or not, they also stated the possibility of a soft "reboot," of the character, introducing a new Spiderman in the upcoming 2016 Sinister Six film, but that's not all. Marvel Entertainment has stepped into the picture as to try to strike a deal with Sony to get the rights to the character back, which makes sense considering Peter Parker plays a major role in Marvels upcoming Captain America: Civil War. The newer Spiderman would ditch the normal tropes such as the backstory and making the love interest more of a side plot and having a more action oriented film, which personally speaking, sounds like a good take on the series. I do, however, feel bad for Garfield who even spoke out on the sequel that didn't quite become the box office success it should have been stating, "through the pre-production, production, and post-production, when you have something that works as a whole, and then you start removing portions of it—because there was even more of it than was in the final cut, and everything was related. Once you start removing things and saying, 'No, that doesn't work,' then the thread is broken, and it's hard to go with the flow of the story. Certain people at the studio had problems with certain parts of it, and ultimately the studio is the final say in those movies because they're the tentpoles, so you have to answer to those people." Anyone who knows me personally knows that I was a pretty big fan of The Amazing Spider Man 2 and hopefully we will end up seeing more of him reprising the role in the future but to be frank, I have no interest in seeing the same Peter Parker/Mary Jane love story play out. I thought one of the smartest moves of the series was using Gwen Stacy, the lesser known earlier love interest of Parker, for the films. Regardless, lets all hope that the next iteration of Spiderman ends up in good hands.
