The film, set to be released on June 13th, has already come under fire. In an era where Hollywood is moving towards more media representation for various groups, people are voicing their concerns of, what was not planned but will most certainly be, a LGBT character in Dreamworks upcoming animated film. A seemingly small ad-lib by voice actor and comedian of character Gobber the Belch, Craig Ferguson, will inadvertently out one of the series returning characters. In a nod towards why he "never got married," Ferguson also added, "that and one other reason." Dean Deblois, writer and director for the sequel film to the 2010 hit, confirmed that the character will indeed "come out." Although this will not be the first time, a character in 2013's ParaNorman, featured a character who confirmed his sexuality with a line about another character meeting his boyfriend, it's still a step in the right direction. Some parents reacted negatively while others defended the films decision to include a character and that it in no way creates an atmosphere or pushing an agenda, rather than following in tow with the films over all message, being different is ok. Will you be seeing How to Train Your Dragon 2 in theaters this June or will this news deter you from heading to the theaters? We'll have to wait and see if Dreamworks decision negatively impacts the sequel that follows an already incredible predecessor.
