Simulation game, Tomadachi life, the direct sequel to Tomadachi collection in Japan, is a title being released on June 6th, 2014 in North America but, the game has been under some scrutiny since last December when Nintendo allegedly removed a bug that allowed players to enter into their Mii avatars into what was quoted as "strange relationships" or a same sex marriage. After 5 months without addressing it, Nintendo stated that various news outlets misquoted them and that the situation had nothing to do with the marriage of the gamers and had to deal with a leak in data instead. What the bug essentially allowed players to do was to dress up female characters as males, or vice versa, in order to create the illusion of the same sex marriage but prevented further progress in the game.  The question really is, why did it take so long and what does that mean for gamers? At the moment, it seems as though there will not be a same sex marriage or union option in Tomadachi life and one blogger by the name of Tye Marini is campaigning to petition the decision to restrict marriage to only couples of the opposite sex. EA made a strong stance against LGBT opposition after the release of Mass Effect 3, a game that offered a same sex relationship option and even argued that the inclusion of LGBT characters is good for the gaming community. It was a surprising story when it broke and still is considering all that you can do in the game and the fact that there is addition content only available to characters who are opposite sex and married like the creation of a family and a bigger house. We'll have to wait until the game is released to see whether or not this wave of controversy is going to have an effect on the sales of this game or if it will still prove to be another successful Nintendo title.
