One of this years most anticipated and innovative action films hits theaters this week but does it pack a punch or is too generic? Hardcore Henry, formerly titled "Hardcore," made a big splash last year at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) with it's creative film style and nonstop action, it became STX Entertainment's first film picked up from a festival after a bidding war between Lionsgate and Universal. The movie has since been building hype to it's April release. Hardcore Henry is shot entirely through a rigged helmet equipped with 2 go-pro Hero 3's (pictured below) and over 10 different actors and stuntmen including director of the film and Biting Elbows member, Illya Naishuller. The movie get into it fairly quick with a handful of humorous moments and fast paced fight scenes but the only part that really is a loss for this film is the villain. Not only is he not menacing, there's no explanation behind what he can do. As to not give away his role in the film, you'll wonder often why someone that powerful hasn't won already? While some of the scenes were paced fantastically well given what they were trying to accomplish, some of the fight scenes become a dizzying frenzy, making you glad this movies just over an hour an half. District 9's Sharlto Copley plays a character named Jimmy, who becomes Henry's sidekick of sorts through various, often funny, interaction and is probably the only memorable character in the film (For reasons that come very apparent when you watch it). If you're walking into the movie theater looking for a memorable story line with a strong supporting cast, this is obviously not that film for you, however, Hardcore Henry's experience just won't be the same off the big screen. Have a punk rock, action packed good time this weekend with Hardcore Henry!
