After the second season of the critically acclaimed series failed to surpass it's predecessor, the future of True Detective was in the air for awhile but it sounds like HBO is ready to move ahead to season 3. Work on season 3 has been floating around the net for several months now and the latest casting news comes from Moonlight and Luke Cage actor, Mahershala Ali, being eyed for a leading role. HBO has been pretty sparse on details for the next season of the show and no official deal or announcements have been made but one can hope that the rumor ends up true and HBO is finally ready to move past their lackluster second season.

The summer as been saved. After a hilarious April Fools prank episode, Rick and Morty's season 3 date has been officially announced! The series which has received critical acclaim on Adult Swim will return to TV July 30th. The season will consist of 10 brand new episodes of Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon's insanely popular series. If the April Fool's episode was nay indication, this upcoming season of Rick and Morty will be one of the best they've done so far.
Netflix and Marvel have no plans of slowing down. Some big announcements were made at this years SDCC regarding several upcoming series and a confirmed returning one. Daredevil was confirmed for a season 3 as well as well as out first look at Danny Rand in the Iron Fist. We were even treated to some new footage for the upcoming September release of Luke Cage and a quick preview of The Defenders series with a voice over of Daredevil's Scott Glen, better known as Stick. Sadly, there's no news of a second season of Jessica Jones, which has been long rumored to not be on the table until after the Defenders series. Take a look at the trailers below and get excited for more Marvel action. CW and Netflix just signed a major deal. In an exclusivity deal with streaming the CW, streaming giant Netflix will now be the home to CW series. To add to the great news, series will be added in their entirety 8 days following the series finales on television. Streaming service Hulu will unfortunately lose the CW shows that were updated as frequently as one episode the night after it aired on television when their own contract with the TV station expires later this year. Get ready for Supernatural, Green Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and plenty more when they hit Netflix a lot sooner than they use to.
It's the dreaded time of the year when the long list of cancellations come from various television networks and just like every year, we're losing some good shows. ABC's country drama "Nashville," was cancelled alongside thriller series "The Family," the struggling Muppets series, the comedic and well received "Galavant," and our favorite female agent, "Marvel's Agent Carter," have all been officially shelved. Even worse news for Marvel, ABC's ordered spin off for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, Marvel's Most Wanted, will not be moving forward on the network. CBS cancelled the latest iteration of crime-mystery series, "CSI:Cyber," and moved it's freshmen series "Supergirl" to the CW in a move which will most likely save the show in the long run. While we wait on more series from NBC, based on ratings it sounds like the new shows, "Game of Silence," Eva Longoria's "Telenovela," and "Undateable," are all in trouble of cancellation. Fox cancelled a handful of new series including Rob Lowe's, "The Grinder," the John Stamos led comedy, "Grandfathered," "Cooper Barret's Guide to Life," "Minority Report," and the sci fi series, "Second Chance." The network also cancelled Seth Macfarlane's new animated series "Bordertown." This isn't terribly surprising as it seems Fox is moving away from animated series after cancelling Macfarlane's other series, "The Cleveland Show," and moving the long running "American Dad," series to TBS where it's performed considerably better. The CW cancelled competition series "America's Next Top model," towards the end of last year and has already cancelled the limited series, "Containment," which has yet to finish airing it's first season. While some of these show's had a good run, others were gone far too soon. What will you miss on TV from the last year?
HBO has let loose the red band trailer for Game of Thrones season 6 and it's teasing some dark times ahead for some of our favorite characters. Take a look at the newest trailer below. Keep your eye out for some returning characters, like Bran who was missing from last season, and get excited for the new season when it premiers on HBO on April 8th, just one month from today! One of the most iconic comic series, Watchmen, might be making its way to television and partnering with a serious cable channel. According to a report from Collider, Watchmen and Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder, has met with HBO about the possibilities of a TV series based around the graphic novel. His film, Watchmen, which debuted in 2009, is one of the most mixed reviewed graphic novel adaptations, even with it's controversial ending. The book itself is chocked full of amazing character growth and story lines that the movie, while attempting to, didn't quite scratch the surface of some of the best parts of the story. Watchmen, in my opinion, is long over due for a TV treatment and HBO, being a cable channel, might be able to give us the brutal and gritty version we deserve. Let's hope these reports are right and we get this series in the future!
One of the best super hero shows is finally making it's return and we now have a date and trailer to go with it. Heroes, the NBC series that started in 2006 and ran through 2010 has been a long time cult favorite among fans met it's end after it's fourth season run but Heroes: Reborn plans to mix a little bit of new with the old. Take a look at the trailer below and get ready for this series to return September 24th, 2015. Nothing last forever and it looks like it's the official end of the road for the short lived NBC series, Constantine. After it's announced cancellation, a lot of rumors surfaced that NBC was looking to other networks to pick up the series, even one option the CW, which runs a number of comic book series currently. Sadly, executive producer of the series, Daniel Cerone, released a statement stating the cast and crew and no longer and that the show, despite it's diehard fandom, couldn't find a new home after all. Hopefully we'll see this character get the show and story he deserves.
