The 80's pop filled, eccentrically cast, newest super hero film from Marvel Entertainment signifies the bigest side step and risk since it began its three phase film plan back in 2008, but is Guardians of the Galaxy worth the galactic ride? Lets take a look. (mild spoilers below)

Comic-Con, the magical time of year that's basically the nerd Olympics. The ultimate round up of comic and cosplay goodness to get us hyped for whats ahead but lets be honest, this year felt a little sub par but I have an idea or two as to why but before we get to that, lets take a look at what we missed.
Comic con has brought us many surprises and one of them is defintely actress Gal Gadot as wonder woman in the up coming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. One, of the many new heroes added to the sequel, looks quite different from the normal Wonder woman we've come to see over the years. Her head piece appears to be facing down, not up, they also went with a much darker costume over all, ditching the more vibrant red and blue look. While a lot of people criticized Gadot being cast as Wonder Woman, director Zack Snyder has always had a knack for putting together an odd cast and bringing the best out of them. We'll have to wait and see and hopefully we'll see some footage from Batman v Superman soon.
I wanted to wait until all of the concept art photos were released before I made a post about them and Marvel has just shown off the last two for the upcoming 2015 title Avengers: Age of Ultron. Take a close look as some show off new coming characters quick silver, scarlet witch, vision and lots and lots of Ultron robots, teasing a lot of action and mayhem! Click below to see the rest!
This year saw the release of quite a few films and another film that you might have missed is the korean sci-fi action epic Snowpiercer, based on the French graphic novel, Le Transperceneige. While this movie received a little difficulty with it's release state-side due to some of its content, you can still find it in some theaters as well as online and this is going to easily be one of 2014's best releases and for a title with receiving the acclaim it has, it's one you should definitely see.
This years Comic Con is shaping up to be an interesting one for a lot more reasons than you'd expect. Long time writer and creator of the classic novel turn cult class film, Fight Club, is attending and he just dropped a big bombshell. After getting involved in the Portland, Oregon comic book community, Chuck Paluhnik has decided that he's going to continue writing Fight Club in the form of a comic book debuting in May 2015 through Dark Horse comics. Jumping 10 years ahead, Fight Club 2 will feature a new protagonist and the return of Tyler Durden, played by Brad Pitt, as well as being married to the infamous Marla Singer, played by Helena Bonham Carter. The characters descent into crime will also explore with the 9 year old son names Junior that he shares with singer. Pahlunik goes on to state that we'll learn the origins of Durdin, that he's ,"been around for centuries and is not just this aberration that's popped into his mind." Project mayhem will also return and play a role in the relationship between the protagonist and his son. Are you excited or worried about Fight Club 2? Look forward to hearing lots of more about this come Chuck Paluhniks panel this Saturday.
There has been a lot of confusion over what's actually going on with the popular long time Marvel character Thor and I want to clear up a couple of things. Thor's not going through a change in gender, Thor is essentially losing his hammer. Rumor has it that a story line based on the "original sin," arc will feature Thor losing his hammer as well as suffering and injury to his left arm, which will lead into Thor the God King. This also leads to old Thor's new weapon, which is technically pretty old, the Dwarven crafted Jarnbjorn. A large axe known as the "wrecker of worlds," that's also imbued with Thor's blood, allowing it to pierce celestial armor. So for those of you worried if Thor will be lame without his hammer, don't worry, he'll be ok. His image is also resembling the future version of God King Thor, shown on Thor: God of Thunder as well. As for the new Thor, the character who hasn't officially been named yet, was once saved in a battle by Thor himself and will be deemed worthy by being pure of heart and of good nature in the new comic series debuting this fall. Also, she's not the first female, or other character for that matter, to wield this might hammer. Even X-men characters Storm, who was tricked by Loki into using a imitation of the hammer, which she later destroys with Mjolnir and even character Rogue. Even Captain America in the Fear Itself comic book arc! In all honesty, I still think Marvels changes are going to be great and add some awesome characters as well as open some new doors. As far as how they'll affect the movie franchise, we'll have to wait and see. For now, take a look at the latest sketches for the new Thor design and look for the new Thor #1 series this fall.
Rumor has it, DC is continuing to build it's future by adding one of the biggest action stars of recent years. During a promotional interview for the upcoming film, Hercule, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, speaks about his discussions with DC over the years as well as who he might end up playing stating, "he has the power of Superman," and that the announcement of the character will be revealed very soon. Which makes sense considering Comic Con starts later this week! Stay tuned and check out the video for more! (I'd personally love to see the Rock play a villain but I think he'd make a great addition to the DC roster) Courtesy of Entertainment, a new image has surfaced of what's going to make up the new Avengers cast coming later this year. With new issues like The All New Captain America #1, Superior Iron Man #1, and Thor #1 all playing into what is being reportedly titled, Avengers NOW! Pictured above (from left to right/ top row and then bottom) you have, Medusa from the Inhuman series, Scarlett Witch, Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Ant-man and along the bottom you have The Winter Soldier, Angela from the Spawn series and the illegitimate sister of Thor and Loki, the new, and as of now still unnamed, female character who will replace Thor, Falcon's Samuel Wilson as the new Captain America, Lush from the inhuman series and Deathlok on the end. With the prominent and most well known three characters having the most radical changes, that will all be explained in due time. This image also raises a lot of questions, since Marvel has spoke about it's plans to move ahead with a Black Panther movie, its surprising that he's not pictured along side these heroes, especially with the inclusion of Doctor Strange and Ant-man, both of which we already know are coming to the big screen. Also, could there be a possibility of seeing some of the small characters on screen sometime like those of the inhuman series or maybe even the controversial Angela? All in all, this is going to be on insane comic con and it's already off to a great and early start!
Thor: God of Thunder is undergoing some big changes! As our classic version of Thor falls from grace, a new heroin will emerge and be deemed "worthy," by the legendary hammer, Mjolnir. Marvel also wants to stress that this new character is not a temporary step in, she will be, indisputably, the new Thor. With this news, a lot of people are wondering what's going to happen to the old Thor, well worry not. He will be operating along side the avengers in the Marvel Universe wielding his god destroying Jarnbjorn axe. You can see the teaser cover released with a much more rugged looking Thor surrounded by some familiar faces. Personally speaking, I'm all for this new Thor. She looks like she's going to be a bad ass on top of a great character with the strong writing of Jason Aaron behind her. I can't wait until her official print debut.
