If you have not heard about Olaf's Frozen Adventure then consider yourself lucky. Over the past few weeks since the release of Disney's Coco, Olaf has been all over the news for all the long reason. Instead of the normal (and generally short) pixar opening scene, Disney opted to instead read an insane 22 minute feature starring the obnoxious animated snowman from 2013's insanely popular Frozen. The fact that this scene was so long coupled lead many fans and critic to denounce the move, pretty much marking it the worst part of an otherwise critically acclaimed film. One critic even called the move "culturally tone-deaf." After all the bad press, it was surprising when Disney announced that they would be removing Olaf's Frozen Adventure from screenings before shortly clarifying that that was the plan all along. An executive according to EW commented that the run was slated until December 8th, even instructing one alleged theater to try and fit in another screening of Coco. Either way you cut it, its hard to imagine that Disney would remove a short if Olaf was well received and it is very strange that they had this planned all along and now Coco will screen as it without one. Regardless, Disney made a poor move but it looks like movie goers who have yet to catch Coco won't have to sit through this abomination pretty soon.
Looks like the upcoming Sabrina reboot won't be on the CW network after all. The studio which is responsible for developing the series won't be airing it on their networks with the news that Sabrina the Teenage Witch will now land on Netflix. This somewhat makes sense seeing as Netflix and CW already have an established exclusivity deal as well as the fact that a horror series will get away with more on the streaming giant. The show is said to be partially inspired by the CW's dark take on the Archie comics, Riverdale, and was meant to be a companion series but it now sounds like the show will operate its own dark universe. To be frank, I can't wait to see what they do with this series and I really hope they go all out!
Paladin's is getting ready to change up their loot box system and it looks like they're taking a page from the worst place possible. Multiple sources reported that the newest changes sound quite similar to EA's PR nightmare, Battlefront 2 which has been scrutinized heavily by gamers and critics alike to the point where EA suspended it all together. Paladin's will feature a card system that will allow characters to receive a boost in abilities. The cards, ranging 1-5 take round 43 duplicates in order to level them up to max, and seeing as htey are randomized drops in the loot boxes and not taking into account that gamers will more than likely see duplicates of cards they already have, the grind will take quite some time. Sadly, those with the monetary funds will be able to by pass all those long hours but just purchasing the loot boxes out right and increasing their chances of maxing out faster. The boost are fairly significant according to this Eurogamer article and the system change is already receiving a lot of negative attention. Either way, we will have to see if a free to play game can make this reward system work or if players are going to reject it out right like they did with EA.
