When the original news broke that Nintendo would be working on a In a, we were assured that they would still support the Wii U but it turns out the soon to be "last gen," console might be getting shlved quicker than we think. Star Fox Zero has been delayed until 2016, which isn't terribly surprising but the news from Nintendo is, considering the only other big title to hit store shelves from now until the end of the year is the Mario Party clone, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Party. In a statement on Facebook from Shigeru Miyamoto, that the team "needs a little bit more time to work on areas such as unprecedented discovery. While gamer's will be stuck waiting until next year to get their hands on this title, it's looks like the Wii U's holiday line up is a little bit light. Konami looks like it's in a bit of a rough spot and gamers are still trying to wrap their heads around just what is going on. The Japanese gaming company has allegedly halted all production of triple AAA titles with the exception of one, Pro-Evolution Soccer. This is, of course, not the biggest controversy the company has faced this year since the loss of Metal Gear Solid's Hideo Kojima. The apparent reason behind the move is Konami's growing interest in mobile games and shying away from console games. This could also be from the fact that the latest in the Metal Gear Solid series, Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, cost 80 million for development alone. While we wait for this story to play out, let's hope the gamer's aren't the ones who are at a loss in the end from the company that's brought us great titles like Dance Dance Revolution, Castlevania, Silenthill and plenty of others.
The sequel to the extremely successful 2014 blockbuster, The Maze Runner, hit's theaters tonight but will it back the same punch? Right off the bat, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, is a high energy, action packed film that still feels a bit odd so late into the year, but it's certainly a great fall blockbuster. The movie features our cast of remaining survivors from the first film now stuck in an entirely new situation, trying to figure out just who they're really up against. While the movie lacks the over all curiosity of The Glade from the first film, it manages to give even more twist and turns, raising even more questions about our protagonist, Thomas played by Dylan O'Brien, and what he did that he still is unable to remember. The movie had some amazing action sequences as well as some gorgeous cinematic moments. The movie feels more intense and more emotional than the last. It's also more adult and a bit more violent than the original. While the ending felt mind blowing in the first Maze Runner, the second, sadly, lacked that moment but that still doesn't detract from the many well done moments from the returning cast as well as new to the franchise, Game of Throne's Aidan Gillen, as villain Jansan. This is a must see to bring in the fall movie season.
Before we see the live action version of the iconic anime series, Ghost in the Shell, it looks like we'll be getting a video game and from the looks of it, it's a bit different from the series we know and love. The game will feature a free to play game mechanic, setting players against against one another in what appears to be some first person action. The game will feature 8 customization players and will run a closed BETA from the 1st-4th of October. From the looks of the trailer, the game really feels like it's just borrowing characters from the GitS series and putting them in a pretty average looking multiplayer shooter. Hopefully I'm wrong but until we find out for sure, take a look at the official launch trailer for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online! To make it more clear, he's starring in the film that's centered around the wildly successful and controversial title, Grand Theft Auto. Radcliffe, known for his roles in the Harry Potter franchise, plays Rockstars man in charge, Sam Houser, opposite Bill Paxton who plays noted anti-video game activist, Jack Thompson. The movie, which sounds great on paper, has not had the easiest road to it's UK BBC release, especially considering the fact that Rockstar's parent company, Take Two, filed a lawsuit against the BBC for "copyright infringement," back in May of this year. On top of this, the official Rockstar games twitter account sent out a series of tweets commenting on the film. The worst part of it all might be the mixed to negative reviews they movie has been getting as well, blaming largely the very slow and not terribly interesting plot. Are you going to check out this film or turn a blind eye until this all blows over?
Kingdom Hearts 2.8: The Final Chapter Prologue was announced during this years Sony press conference at the Tokyo Game show. Containing an HD remaster of Dream Drop Distance as well as the features in scenes in Black Cover and Kingdom Hears 0.2 Birth By Sleep. If you need something to hold you over until Kingdom Hearts 3 hits store shelves sometime next year, hopefully this will do the trick! Take a look at the announcement trailer below! If this holds true, this might be the best version of this live action adaptation anime fans could have ever hoped for. It's not denying that Christopher Nolan has made a major stamp in Hollywood, boasting numerous awards with his critically acclaimed films but rumor has it the legendary director is in talks with Warner Bro's studio to produce a three part Akira live action film series, which is nothing short of incredible. This rumor, courtesy of Den of Geek, also involves Daredevil season 2 and Sons of Anarchy writer, Marco J. Ramirez as well. Of course, this is far from the first time rumors have circulated about a live action Akira film as Warner Bro's acquired the rights to the live action film back in 2002 and the allegend script has moved through plenty of hands. Hopefully this title will actually move forward this time because with Nolan behind the lens, it's hard to imagine this movie won't come out great!
After a long time, it looks like we finally know what this little green guy is all about and it has to do with a Pokemon we've already seen before. The Pokemon is apparently a form of the legendary ground-dragon type Zygarde, but with 10% of it's power. It seems that Zygarde has a number of forms from a cell form, core form (seen above), 10% power form, the 50% power form featured in Pokemon X and Y, and a Perfect form that has both blue and red one it's arms, possibly indicating a connection to Xerneas and Yveltal. Take a look at the pictures below and get ready for more Pokemon news when the Pokemon: Mega Evolution Special premiers October 29th in Japan that's rumored to be packaged with a new anime series, titled Pokemon XY & Z.
Might No. 9, that crowdfunded title that comes from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune, has released a pretty slick game play trailer. Showing off a number of classic 2-D side scrolling elements, No. 9, which serves as a spiritual successor to the original Mega Man series, looks familiar and fun. We'll have to wait a little while before this title hits store shelves in 2016 but hopefully it'll be just as great as Inafune's most famous franchise. (Maybe we'll get lucky and get a Mega Man Legends 3 announcement too) Take a look at the footage below! |
