Nintendo is taking it back with their new transparent 2DS designs. The new models feel very reminiscent of a year long forgotten. I honestly don't think I've seen a transparent Nintendo handheld since the Gameboy Advanced, which would make sense because these are being released and packaged with Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Nintendo also announced that demo codes for the new Pokemon titles will be made available starting October 15th that will have content that can transfer into the full retail version of the games, due out November 28th. While a price hasn't been announced as of yet, expect the general 2DS price of around 130$.

One of Hollywoods biggest blockbuster directors will be returning to his biggest and best franchise amid allegations of sexual assault. Throughout a tumultuous year, Bryan Singer remained behind the scenes, first dropping out of promotions for X men: Days of Future Past, earlier this May. After filing for a motion to dismiss the charges brought against him, followed by a successful opening for the X Men franchise, everyone wondered how this controversy would effect his future with Fox studios and if he would be returning for the next installment in the series, X Men: Age of Apocalypse. After a series of instagram photos showing that he had been working on the script with long time collaborator, Simon Kinberg, Fox has announced that he will in fact be returning to direct the film. While I'm sure he is breathing easy for the moment, the allegations by former acquaintance, Michael Egan, given to Vulture, over what happened is a disturbing account of manipulation in Hollywood in the pursuit of false promises. It's an interesting read that gives a much more in depth look behind Bryan Singer, the now charged sxex offender, Marc J. Collins Rector, and his early yourtube-esque streaming company, DEN. Only the future will tell if Bryan Singer has dodged a bullet or if this storm can follow him up until the 2016 release of the next X Men film.
Fall TV premier season has officially begun and we're kicking off the last leg of 2014 with one of the most anticipated shows, Gotham on Fox. Gotham follows the rise of Jim Gordon in the city that becomes home to one of DC's most prolific heroes, Batman. Right off the bat, we move into the young Bruce Waynes origin story (parents killed in a alley, Alfred shows up to get him) and while it is pretty short lives, with out a lot of emotional connection, only time will tell how pivotal a role young Bruce Wayne will play. One of the strengths that becomes extremely apparent early on, is that the supporting cast acting along side Gordon's Ben McKenzie, is fantastic! Donal Logue plays a perfect hardened Detective Harvey Bullock, while villains Jada Pinkett Smith (although physically different from what you'd see in the comic) as crime boss Fish Mooney and Robin Taylor, as the sociopath Penguin, compliment their characters perfectly. We also get a look at the younger version of a handful of other notable DC villains, Poison Ivy as well as Selena Kyle, better know as Catwoman. As the story progresses, Poison Ivy's father is revealed to be set up in an attempt to look like he was the man responsible for Bruce Waynes parents murder. The stakes are raised as Detective Gordon finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy that's involved not only his partner, but his love interest Barbara, played by Erin Richards. While a lot of colors make the show feel pretty muted, there's enough twist, turns and betrayals to make this pilot one heck of a ride. Be sure to keep up this fall, Mondays at 8 on Fox.
As more and more Final Fantasy 15 details come to light, gamers are being treated to a plethora of pleasant surprises about this long awaited title. The demo, scheduled to be released with the next Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy Type-0 which will be available March 17th, 2015, is said to be between 3 and 4 hours of content, allowing players to experiencing dungeon exploration and getting behind the wheel of the vehicle we saw in the newest trailer. (there will also be an auto drive feature that players can opt into) There have also been hints that we may get to ride some chocobos as well. All in all, that's a lot of content to pack into a demo, but for a title like this, I wouldn't have it any other way. It was also announced that series director Tetsuya Nomura stepped down to turn his focus on the other highly anticipated next gen title, Kingdom Hearts 3, and in his place, Hajime Tabata, director of the PSP titles Final Fantasy Type 0 and Final Fantasy Crisis Core, has taken the lead. Get excited, it looks like this title is finally coming home!
Out of the many titles shown at Tokyo Game Show, one familiar fighting franchise is adding a new character and getting back to it's roots. Tekken 7 is departing from its tag tournament fighting style and focusing on the 2D combat it started with. Picture above is the new character, Catalina, a latin american fighter who specializes in a french martial arts style that's a mix of kick boxing and french boxing known as Savate. Intended as a character for beginners, the character will be playable at select locations in Tokyo and Osaka from October 3rd to 5th. Check out the extended teaser trailer for the game and expect the release date in the future. It's rare that driving games get a lot of traction these days but none looks more exciting than the fast approaching, Forza Horizon 2. Microsoft has put out a live action trailer that can only be described as on hell of a ride. Check it out below and get ready to get behind the wheel September 30th on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For those of you who didn't qualify for the Club Platinum demo for Super Smash Bros last week, the demo available to anyone was release today, but how does this long time console title hold up on handheld. First off, the screen look a lot better than I expected, the characters don't feel too small and the black outlines actually do a tremendous job of helping you focus so you don't lose yourself in the action packed mayhem. It took a few rounds to get use to the motion pad being used nearly nonstop, which worried me because of how many of them tend to break, but after you get the hang of it you're good to fight to your hearts desire. Some of the new items like the bomb chu, drill arm, the ore club and plenty of others, really add a fresh element and add for some hilarious KO's. New roster additions, available to the demo, are Mega Man and the Villager while we can see greyed out boxes of 36 other characters, which is a hearty amount to start with. While we can't be sure if that's going to be everyone you did get right off the bat, we know that a handful of characters aren't shown on screen and must be unlocked. You only have 4 alternate colors out of the 8 that was confirmed for Mario, Link, Pikachu, Mega Man and The Villager. The Villager is a very well round characters, having both a mixture of strong close up and long range attacks, its easily one of the characters that you can pick up and get the hand of fairly quickly. Mega Man, on the other hand, requires a bit more focus as some of the attacks are done in segments and it's jump up attack isn't as easy to recover from the Villagers. Both have fantastic final smashes and look awesome when used. The demo let you play on one level with an alternate back drop if you press X when selecting it and only allows you 30 plays. (What I've heard is it's 30 times shutting your system on and off, not just 30 rounds) Unfortunately, while extremely fun, I don't plan n revisiting this appetizer to a great title that's already broken records in Japan. Super Smash Bros 3DS will be released in 2 weeks on October 3rd but be sure to play the demo to see if this version is for you.
One of the smaller titles to debut at E3 is certainly picking up buzz this week with the hinted possibility of co-op being an added element in the title. Scalebound, the Xbox One exclusive from developers Platinum Games (Bayonetta series, Metal Gear: Revengeance) had a statement released by producer Atashi Inaba that left us with a bit of wiggle room for a possible yes in the future stating, "unfortunately, we are unable to comment or say at this time, but as Kamiya touched on it earlier, we are not building this as a pure sort of linear boss [game. The] player can then go and go back if you want to and replay the entire game, so we’ll kind of leave that up to your imagination." While Scalebound has not released its planned debut date, feel free to check out the E3 trailer below for this fun action title. It's been a few weeks since we've had a good movie hit theaters but we're finally getting under way with out big name fall releases, first up is the action thriller Maze Runner. How did Teen Wolf star Dylan O'Brien's first lead role turn out, lets take a look!
In a surprising, and great, announcement made today, looks like the live action Dead pool will be heading to the theaters in early 2016. After the leak of the test footage earlier this year, we finally saw a version of the comic book comedian that was a lot closer to the original material and couldn't be anything farther from the version we saw in X Men Origins: Wolverine, which I will never acknowledge due to the lack of overall effort that went into that entire film but that's a rant for another day. Aside from this great news, it looks like actor and former Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds, is still up for the role and I honestly can't think of anyone else who would fit this role as perfectly. Whether the movie will be rated R is another question, while a lot of people have already complained that Dead Pools dark sense of humor and violence caters to a more "adult audience," PG-13 films have really grown in the amount of wiggle room they have as opposed to past decades. All in all, we can look forward to Dead Pool due out in theaters in February 16th, 2016.
