Microsoft's press event at Gamescom brought the official opening of pre-orders for the latest console and gamers will be able to get their hands on very limited special edition console. Project Scorpio, the title given to the console prior to its official announcement at E3, now has it's own edition complete with a large black X reminiscent of the original Xbox console. The black body also has the Xbox signature green on it with the words "Project Scorpio," on both the controller and the console. The pre-orders are available through all the major retailers for a cool $500. If that wasn't enough, the wildly popular mine craft will be getting it's own limited Xbox One S bundle that will be released later this fall on October 3rd. While the consoles different is simply cosmetic, any collector is going to want to get their hands on either one of these while they still have the chance!
While the Defenders is all anyone can talk about on Netflix, the streaming service will be rounding out the summer with the controversially Americanized take on Death Note. The film that seems to have followed a series of heavily criticized films for white washing (The Great wall, Ghost in the Shell, Iron Fist), has been met with fair reviews thus far after being pre-screened for critics. While the directors do not comprehend the issue of the casting, the original creators have given the "adaptation" some praise, describing the characters as "faithful to satisfying their desires. Regardless of how the film does on the platform, it's still another in a very long series of films that have taken away the opportunities for Asian American actors and has been an on going conversation in Hollywood for a majority of 2017. We will just have to wait and see how the adaptation plans out when its released Friday August 25th.
While we are still a few months away from the new Pokemon titles release in November, we got a boat load of new information about the pair of titles this week. Aside from the new Lycanroc form, there is a new Z move for the fighting dragon Kommo-o as well as some returning features. Players will now be able to customize their characters like Pokemon X and Y in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. There is also a very fun new photo feature, that will allow players to pose alongside their Pokemon in various settings with props or in action. A new trailer shows us a very different Alola region map, including a mysterious dark cloud that is more than likely tied to the legendary beast Necrozma. A new game play trailer showed some new locations, cut scenes and even new supporting characters. Take a look at the three brand new trailers below and get excited as we ill move closer to Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon's release November 17th, 2017. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2010 Crack Down 2 has just hit a major set back. According to Microsoft, the title has been pushed back until 2018 due to it needing more time. Sadly, Crackdown 3 was also due to be one of the major, if not the most major, launch titles for this falls Xbox One X. There has also been news in the previous weeks about Xbox and Microsoft's lack of exclusive titles and this certainly does not help the cause. Some of the titles that will launch alongside the new console in November include Super Lucky's Tale, Cuphead, Forza Motorsports 7, and the 100 man MOBA PlayerUnknowns Battleground. Crackdown 3 is due to be released on the Xbox One X sometime next Spring.
Since the original tantalizing trailer, We Happy Few has made quite the stir amongst the gaming ocmmunity and the steam title is going to expand in a major way. The survival horror title will be released on the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 next April. The retail price will remain the standard $60 and will allow gamers to experience the madness with three different characters and a large amount of possibly encounters. The game also received a new announcement trailer, which you can see below. While we don't have an exact day in April, we do know that the game is coming so we will just have to wait and see. Moviepass made waves this week when it's pricing figure was reduced down to a simple 10 dollar a month plan. The idea is Moviepass would send subscribers a pre-loaded Visa card that would allow people to purchase a ticket for 1 film per day. You can also go on premier nights but you can not use the service towards Imax or 3D films. You won't be able to order tickets online however and will have to go in and pick up one in person. The company is essentially betting that a majority of their customers will only go to the theaters once or twice a month but the new low price will grow their base tremendously. After the announcement was made, AMC was quick to criticize the new price plan but it sounds like them banning it outright is less than likely. Other theaters are giving it a "wait and see," approach in the hopes that Moviepass will end up driving crowds to the theaters with the idea that they will have more money to buy items from the concession. We will just have to wait and see what will happen but you can sign up for the service here.
Sonic Mania is set to be released this week and it's already being met with some pretty stellar reviews. The title marks a return to the class 2D Sonic roots and was largely inspired by the original Sega titles. This is also great news for the series that hasn't had a hit title in quite sometime. A large number of the previous Sonic 3D titles have been met with less than stellar reviews and sales. Sonic Mania is set to bring the fun back to the series August 15th for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Valve's popular MOBA DOTA 2 is getting a new update and with it is two brand new heroes. One is a purple armadillo wielding a rapier and the other appears to be a fairy with a minion like creature. Take a look at the trailer below and get ready for these heroes to launch sometime after the DOTA 2017 International. Sony may have handed Spider-Man to Marvel for the time being, but the company is definitely going to play around with some major Spidey-verse figures. After the Venom solo flick, Sony has now set an official date for Silver & Black, a film based on the bounty hunter Silver Sable and thief (and somewhat love interest of Peter Parker) Black Cat. The solo will also have no relation to the current Spider-Man or the Marvel Universe. The film is being described as as a "buddy film," as opposed to the horror angled Vemon film. The release date is Feburary 8th 2019 so be on the look out for more news at this film develops.
