Looks like we got some more news about Nintendo's up coming gaming console due out for next year and it doesn't look good. President Satoru Iwata stated that the game would not be present at this years E3 presentation, which is not too surprising considering the original plan was for a full reveal sometime in 2016. The next console from Nintendo was announced alongside a partnership with gaming mobile company, DeNA, with goals to publish their popular franchises on mobile systems in the near future. It looks like we'll be waiting a bit longer to find out what the new "NX," is all about but until then, hopefully E3 will be used as an opportunity to explain the fate of the Wii U and just what titles we will and won't see release for it this year.

The Universe continues to expand. Sherlock and The Hobbit trilogy star, Martin Freeman, was confirmed today by Marvel for a role in the upcoming film, Captain America: Civil War. The actor, with an impressive number of awards under his belt, joins his Sherlock co-start in the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The biggest question at the moment is just who Martin Freeman will play? Will he play a supporting role to the Avengers or possibly have a role to play with the newest avengers, Spider-man, who's also being added to the mix. We'll just have to wait and see who he's going to end up playing when the film release, May 6th, 2016.
After the amazing Joker reveal, director David Ayer treated fans to a tweet when he let loose this image featuring the full case of the upcoming DC villain film, Suicide Squad. As you can see, some members of the cast look far different from their comic book versions like Enchantress and even Harley Quinn, but this set photo has definitely made fans excited about what's to come. Starting from the left, we have Adam Beach as Slip Knot, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Dead Shot, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. Ayer later tweeted out a closer up image of Deadshot following the cast photo. What's even more interesting was the leak of these photos of Batman actor, Ben Affleck, on set of the Suicide Squad. Perhaps this will be part of the initial set up of the ambitious Justice League film Dc hopes to release in 2017. Either way, it looks like this is going to be one heck of a ride!
From an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair, Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth, is shown here in her chrome stormtrooper costume. After the announcement was made last June, fans speculated as to just who she would play in the star wars universe and today we finally have our answer. Christie will star as Captain Phasma, one of the officers of The First Order. This isn't the only big news we received today as we also found out that actress Lupita Nyong'o has been reveled as the pirate, Maz Kanata and Adam Driver will star as the masked sith jedi, Kylo Ren. May the fourth be with you and stick around for more awesome Star Wars developments! Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th.
No one was more confused than the fans were when it was announced that the comic book character, Quicksilver, would appear in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron (this of course being confirmed in Captain America: The Winter Soldiers post credits), just short of a year after the same character appeared in Bryan Singer's X Men: Days of Future past and one question has been on all our minds, just which is the better version? 1. The Costumes To be frank, neither of the two received positive reactions when the pictures first surfaced. Much more notably, Evan Peter's (pictured on the right) reveal via Empire Magazine received a landslide of backlash from fans but, after the films release, the change made sense. Between the two, Bryan Singer fit the times but Joss Whedon gets the point for having the closer, of the two, to the original costume. 2. The Jokes Avengers: Age of Ultron is funny, a lot funnier than expected and a good handful of those moments are delivered from Quicksilvers character. A bit loose and sarcastic, his simple "didn't see that coming," became an on going joke throughout the film. Quicksilver in Days of Future Past however, is down right hilarious. With what felt like 5 minutes of screen time (but I'm sure it's closer to twenty,) his interactions with Wolverine and Professor Xavier are some of the best parts of the film and the comment he makes about his father is hilarious to any comic fan. This one goes to Peters. 3. The Plot Lastly, and most important, is analyzing the role they played, which is a bit complex. The two characters are vastly different, existing in different universes and interacting with different teams. The Quicksilver in X Men:DoFP, is a young kid in the 70's, living at home with his sister and mother and is a known trouble maker. The Age of Ultron version is a war torn orphan who, along with his twin sister, aids Ultron in his plot to make the world a better place before realizing just what's at stake. One of the biggest differences here is the fact that Scarlett Witch does not officially appear in X Men: Days of Future Past, nor is she the same age as her brother. He also plays a much smaller role as opposed to the Maximoff twins, who played an on-going role throughout the second Avengers film. There's also an obvious difference in speech patters, one being from America while the other was from Eastern Europe. Unfortunately, Evan got the short end of the stick in Days of Future Past, but was such a hit with the audience that his character is reportedly being brought back for the sequel, X Men: Apocalypse, in 2016. For now, Quicksilver's role dominates in the lengthy Avengers sequel takes this one. Bonus: Special Effects While Age of Ultron featured some amazing action sequences, Days of Future past will hold the title of having one of the absolute best slow-motion sequences in film history. If you haven't seen it, take a look below! |
