Last night, something absolutely incredible happened. While most of us had our eyes glue on the Grammys, rapper Lupe Fiasco and profession gamer Mcz Daigo had a score to settle. From a challenge that originated on twitter at the end of January, the two faced off via twitch stream on Street Fighter 5 and the result was absolutely insane, so much so that neither of the two knew what happened by the end of it. Take a look at the full video below or skip ahead to the 17:30 mark to see just who came out on top. Valentines day weekend is a big one for the box office and after 15 years very long years, the wait is over for the highly anticipated sequel Zoolander 2, but is this a knock out or a walk out? Rarely have I felt embarrassed laughing in a movie theater. Maybe for some ill fated moments in some thrillers, I don't normally feel like sinking into my own seat but that was largely my experience with Zoolander 2. Aside from the person I was with and several other movie goes in that less than a 1/4 filled auditorium, no one was laughing and I wasn't blaming them. We've all by now heard about the article circulating of the film critic who felt the movie was so poor, he walked out and it oddly enough happened during my own experience and I again, can not blame the people who left. Zoolander was originally a satire of the modelling industry, Zoolander 2 is a cameo filled bore fest with the central characters being the lamest of the lot. There's a lot of jokes that don't even take off, under utilized villains that actually could have been funny had this movie tried to tone it down and bit of distasteful fat shaming at the expense of Zoolanders long lost son, Derek Jr. There was even a very over done shooting scene with pop star Justin Bieber which feels like a joke so old that I'm surprised the writers thought it would be funny ar all. This movie's so mindbogglingly bad that it's hard to find a single thing good to mention about it. I'm actually not even sure if it was worth the excitement I once had when I knew this film was coming. You'll see some familiar faces, some real head scratches and some people who could have used some off screen direction. (Not all fashion designers are actors) As previously stated, the movie tried to accomplish too much and it really fell short when it decided to shit gears from having Kristin Wiig's actually funny Alexanya Atoz to Will Ferrel's Mugatu reprising the villain from the original. When you find out that Mugatu was behind everything and that Wiig's character basically served no point other than a few laughs at her mispronunciation at the words "awesome," and "youth," you really begin to realized what a missed opportunity this ended up being. To be direct, if you want to remember the original fondly, skip the sequel, not even blue steel could save this holiday flop. This one's a walk out that you can definitely miss.
Frank Castle is coming to Hell's Kitchen and it's going to be one violent and bloody ride. Take a look at the newest trailer for Netflix's second season of Daredevil and get prepared for an awesome face off between two legendary comic heroes. Also, stick around towards the end as another trailer is set to debut next week Every know and then, Hollywood introduces us to film over kill, a phenomenon in which a franchise has produced millions of dollars but continues to church out awful films. The last big blockbuster over kill franchise was most certainly Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean which is still on it's want to the 5th installment in the series and it seems that Paramount is not giving us just one, or two, but three more transformers films that will be released from 2017 through the consecutive years following. Transformers 5 will open against DC's Wonder Woman film June 23rd of 2017, Transformers 6 will open against Godzilla 2 June 8th, 2018 and Transformers 7 will fall on June 28th, 2019 and as of now is the only film announced for that date. While the last release Transformers: Age of Extinction, felt like a small but, very poor, step up from the films before it, it did go on to gross an alleged 100 million opening weekend. (Which was met with a lot of controversy as to whether or not that number was exaggerated) We knew that a sequel was coming, we just didn't know how many. As of now, we're still not sure. We do know that director Micheal Bay is slated to return to direct The fifth film, being his last, as well as the 2018 film being featured around the Transformer Bumblebee, marking the first spin off film for the franchise. Are you excited to see more of these robots in disguise or are you burned out on this franchise?
Ryan Reynold's film that was 11 years in the making is finally getting the spotlight it deserves this weekend with it's big screen debut but was the wait worth it? If you're new to Deadpool you're in for a ride. The comic book character, known for being a raunchy, 4th wall breaking badass who's a far contrast from any of the comic book heroes we have in circulation now. Reynolds, in his true comedic fashion, absolutely nails the merc with the mouth but we've known for some time that this was the right hero for him and much better than the last on screen hero. The opening credits poke fun at the cast and crew and the comedy remains close to the comics with plenty of funny 4th wall breaks and pop culture references including a handful of Hugh Jackman jokes. This movie would not have worked any other way than with the R rating it so delightfully deserved with some hardcore bloody action and curse words flying left and right. While the movie is action heavy early on, it back pedals a bit to show us Wade Wilson coming to terms with what happened to his physical appearance. One of Deadpools strengths is the hilarious side cast featuring T.J. Miller as the hilariously dry, Weasel, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle and even the two featured Xmen heroes Colussus played by Stefan Kapičić and the amazingly fun Negasonic Teenage Warhead played by newcomer Brianna Hildebrand and Ed Skrein who made for an exceptionally cruel villain in Ajax. Sadly, the movie does make it's use of the "test footage," leak fans saw at Comic con two years prior, a bit too much, using nearly the first 2/3rds of the film as a way of showing both current events and the origin story by jumping back and forth and it did get a bit confusing. The good news is, that we know Deadpool is on the way regardless of how well this film does but from early financial reports, it looks like Deadpool is on it's way to a huge opening weekend. Deadpool is full of butts, bullets and blood and if you're easily offended or of the faint of heart, you might want to skip this movie because its far from the conventional superhero film you're use to but if that sounds right up your alley, this is can't miss movie this Valentines day weekend!
The final Batman v. Superman trailer is angled from the Dark Crusaders perspective, giving us the best look we've had so fat at Bruce Wayne throwing down in some action packed fighting. We even see another glimpse of Jesse Isenberg's Lex Luthor as well as Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Take a look at the amazing fight scene and deconstruction in the newest and last trailer below! A new image leak from japanese magzine, CoroCoro, has shown us a new metallic Pokemon named Magiana. The new legendary Pokemon is told to be man made from over 500 years ago and will be featured along side the fire/water type Volcanion and the multiple forms of Zygarde in the upcoming Pokemon film, Volcanion and The Ingenious Magiana. The title was revealed from a translation through Pokemon news site serebii and you can find out more here. Are these Pokemon going to be part of the next generation or will we finally see a Pokemon Z to complete our X and Y trilogy? An image shown on Playstation's middle east twitter page shows off the classic Sony gaming hero, Crash Bandicoot with the message "most wanted person...where are you Crash?" While this doesn't outright confirm anything, this isn't the first time in recent months that we've heard ramblings of the possibility of the crash series coming back to consoles. This might be the perfect time to do so seeing as platformers like Ori and the Blind Forest, Super Mario Maker and plenty of others show there's still a high demand in the genre and a new Crash title on the current generation Playstation 4 seeing as the last Crash game was released back in 2008. Keep an eye out for more news as we get closer to a possible announcement at E3 this June.
Given it's release window and with big name comic releases like X Men: Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War, a lot of people pegged Deadpool to be the underdog early in the year but it looks like they might be wrong. The films just a few short days from it's Valentines Day Weekend release and has already been green lit for a sequel. According to the Hollywood Reporter, current writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have already begun the process for writing the script for the sequel. This isn't entirely shocking but still great to hear as actor Ryan Reynolds has stated that he's more than willing to return to the role. Reynolds also stated that he'd like to see Deadpool along the X Force which has featured an array of famous mutants from Wolverine to Psylocke. Deadpool is set to open this Friday, February 12th.
